Is anyone on this site who has PMR and ITP a conditon , autoimmune condition that lower platelets that control bleeding in our body can cause one to bleed. Both are treated with prednisone. My platelets dropped early this week down to 25 k. Normal is 15k and above. I have been put on a 4 day dose of Dexamethasone. 40 a Day. Am flying as i habe been on 5 m of prednison for five years controlling both my PMR and keeping my platelets about 30 with no unusual bleeding or symptoms. This drop in platelets happen just as I felt I might be going into PMR remission. Now told by histolmolgist Dr most tske tjis booster dose 40mg Drxs for 4 days. Anyone with both ITP and PMR? Pls ist me know. Thanks pls let me know.

Sandydame,

Yes indeed I have both PMR and ITP. My platelet levels though are slightly higher at 65-71 and I am on 5mg of Prednisolone. I was due an operation and was infused twice with platelets, but it did not help. The operation was cancelled. I have never been offered Dexamethasone, but I had a bone marrow examination to ensure that it was ITP. I bleed under the skin, even to a gentle knock, but my doctor has signed me off as my ITP is stable(ish).
