I have read posts about this subject in the past and now find that this has happened to me. Have been losing my hair quite rapidly over the last 18 months since I started on my PMR and Prednisolone adventure and did notice that the new growth was quite thin and wispy but having now had cut I find that all that new growth has left me with with a head of curls. Having had straight hair all my life and somewhat envying those with a curly mop I am at present having a love/hate relationship with my own. It certainly needs different management to what I am used to. My question is - does this last after Prednisolone is stopped and my hair (hopefully) stops shedding. Luckily the new growth is keeping up with the loss so that I am not being left with bald spots but rather thin curly hair.

Curly hair
Having been “curly” all my life and can agree it needs different treatment! It has a mind of it’s own that’s for sure.
Most people do find that after Pred, hair does return to its natural tendency.... so just go with the alternative look for now.
If you’re happy or able to get to hairdressers that will help, and there are plenty of videos on line demonstrating how to deal with ‘unruly’ hair - curtesy of lockdown.
My hair fell out twice over 3 years. Once 5 months after diagnosis which I’m sure was due to systemic shock, and next during a period of low adrenal function under 7mg. My phases were, severe bald patches, grew back lustrously, thinned horribly, looked like mad scientist, went to curly of my dreams, finished back at my not straight but with a kink in it that makes it different both sides 😐
I have had a lot of fun learning how to manage my curls. I sleep in a silk crochet hairnet ( large holes) and wake up looking like Shirley Temple. No sign of going 4 years on. 😂
My hair feel out about 5 months in and left me with course ugly hair for about a few months. I had it cut short and then during Covid-19 stay at home order it began to come back in when i was at around 12.5 mg. It thickened back up and was curly. Everyone loves it so I keep it short and use DipityDo for Curly hair or a sticky substance I can 't remember. My morning routine has shorten from a half an hour to five minutes with my new hair. i hope it doesn't change or fall out again.
Mine became very curly after straight, greasy hair, it became incredibly dry and haystack like. I got it cut very short and it looked really funky. I tried everything on earth to improve its condition. I have noticed that as I reduce pred, my hair seems to be getting in better condition again but it is losing its curls sadly.
All my life I had naturally curly hair - and I always told people not to wish for it, it might not come up to their expectations! It has always required a very special hairdresser - and when I moved I had to find one by trial and error!
PMR changed it, the real curl went. Then pred, especially methyl pred, turned it into something resembling a brillo pad Now that only happens when I let it dry naturally or it is very hot (over 30C over days)
Currently trying to train a new hairdresser ...
Amen to your tale of woe! I have had curly..wavy, very thick hair all my life. Started straightening it 6 years ago and loved it!!! Hair has fallen out, straightening process gone and having one side shaved during biopsy a year ago, I now have dry, brittle, shorter, layered hair that can only be described as brillo....perfect😥 So much for vanity...gone.
I did not stop scuba diving until age 76 which was on the onset the PMR and Pred taking, but never had the joy of curly/any hair which I started losing when 23 but gradually over the years, now have sideburns! only just above the ears!So regret I belive I am not much of answer to you.
