Just wondering If anyone has tried lymphatic drainage massage or dry brushing as a way of flushing toxins out of your system to help with inflammation (in addition to improved diet and steroids)?
Lymphatic drainage massage: Just wondering If... - PMRGCAuk
Lymphatic drainage massage
Yes, but not until the Pandemic is over. Gentle massage would be lovely.
I have had lymphatic drainage massage with two different people, both cost a fortune and both really did not achieve much. I have ordinary leg massage occasionally which I find very pleasant.
Just wondering what toxins are supposed to be building up in the lymphatic system. The inflammation is coming from your own body’s activity elsewhere so unless one has actual lymph drainage problems I can’t see it being much use. On Pred my skin has been so fragile and massage so uncomfortable that I couldn’t do either. Tried doing skin brushing near where my lymph nodes have been removed but it was too harsh. However, I always say, if it feels beneficial and there’s not too much kickback then why not?
Not quite clear how lymph drainge is going to deal with inflammation? There is a lot of guff claimed about "toxins", usually aiming to sell products or services that actually do very little besides emptying your pockets. That is why you have a liver and kidneys. Their job is to remove any toxins.
I had swollen ankles some years ago and a session of manual lymph drainage targeting the worse leg dealt with the problem in both legs within days and it has never returned. It was done by a physiotherapist - but really wasn't massage, more a specific technique.
