It can happen when there is a lot of fluid in the tissues of the leg. It gets to a point that if the skin is broken, even the tiniest of holes, it seeps out like a little tap has been turned on. Firstly, the cause of the swelling needs to be found and treated. Is that in hand? Secondly, it needs to be covered so that infection doesn’t creep in from the bugs in the skin, causing cellulitis. A good absorbent pad is needed that is changed when soaked through and keeping the leg up. It stops eventually if the hole heals over or the fluid collection is prevented. If this is an old issue, do you wear medical support hosiery?

Yes I have problems with my lower legs due to steroids. A tiny prick could cause liquid to flow down my leg for ages. It does seem to have improved though.

Yes I had this . I had obviously scratched myself I assume with my razor . No blood tho . Anyway I applied a dry dressing and it soon went .

End result I now use an electric one 😁

Thank you so much for your comments, I got an appointment with a wound care doctor this morning . He sounded like you!! So I now have a special covering on the hole area to keep it safe. He said my skin was very fragile and it did not take much for this to happen. I cannot wear the hosiery due to my fingers but I do have a tactile pump I use every day for an hour that really helps, I cannot use it now until my hole heals up. once again thank you so much for your help! I love this site and the people around the world that share their experiences.

Once again, late response; I'll let it go at...my life has been chaotic. Yes! I too get clear liquid drainage from time to time. Like you I have the 'suit' for lymphedema massage. I can remember when my legs were really swollen and it never happened. My skin on my legs is shiny and red on both shin areas. The most recent drainage was just above my knee?? I felt the wetness and couldn't see any any opening at all, but it was damp for a few days. I always put an ointment on the area and keep it covered because I did get cellulitis last year and was in the hospital for five days. NO leakage during that experience just a small red area that kept getting bigger and hotter. Even after I was discharged I had to return for two weeks of IV antibiotics and was off Actemra for 3 months. So...do keep it covered and if you have an antibiotic ointment, I'd use it.

How are you doing now? Please let us know.💕💕(I'm getting so old, no more hair on my legs, at any rate! Another good thing about aging!)
