Sore throat.

I have GCA since October 2018. On 12 mg Prednisone for the last two weeks. Have had a sore throat for a couple of months. Sometimes very small. Today really sore. Anyone else have this as a result of prednisone? Talking to my doctor about this tomorrow afternoon. Thank you.

Good luck with your doctor. The temperature is quite changeable and my OH and I have had mild cold symptoms for a couple of months or maybe hay fever. I hope yours is something straight forward too.

Swabbed for strep throat and Covid. Two days for results.

On and off sore throat for weeks. Antihistamine takes it away with a couple of paracetamol. But always better to get checked.

Are you sure it is the pred - and not the GCA? A sore throat and cough can be a symptom of GCA - did it appear after a reduction?

It can also be a symptom of slient reflux - and that is a possibility with pred though you would expect it to be more at higher doses.

Mine is better (not gone) after using a pollen/dust filter in the bedroom overnight.

I have been going down 1 per month. No cough. And the sore throat comes and goes.

I do have acid reflux and take pantaloc. This just seems to have started this year.

Before my GCA diagnosis I did have a permanent fluctuating (esp mornings) mild sore throat with intermittent croaky voice and a silly dry cough; a single cough, not bouts.

I’ve often had a sore throat with GCA. Doesn’t follow any pattern.

My doctor thinks I might have an infection. Doing blood test and swab tomorrow.
