Have not been active on the site so haven’t read about people contracting Covid that have been vaxxed and boosted. I’ve had two shots and a booster of Pfizer vaccine. Still having problems accessing this site
Started with a sore throat when swallowing yesterday. Read that this type of sore throat is often the first symptom of omicron. No other symptoms except weariness and the usual muscle/joint pain worse in the morning. I have one at home test here
I’ve been isolating but live with my son who works as a janitor in a busy office building He’s had one Johnson and Johnson shot
I’m currently on 9.5 mg pred I’m in Northern California and we’re currently surging
Would welcome any advice or others who have contracted this variant

I’ve read lots of people on a Covid Facebook group who’ve had it an been double and treble vaccinated who have had Covid and some confirmed Omicron. Sore throat was a prominent feature with cold-like symptoms. This has been noted as a big feature with Omicron in other research too. I know people personally who were asymptomatic or tired for 2 days only to those who were in bed like the flu and a few in between. So as always, until you get it, you don’t know until you run that course. Home tests can be unreliable and indeed my father-in-law who was admitted to hospital tested negative on a daily home test right up to the day and his lab test was negative in the morning but positive in the evening. Better assume its IT if you have symptoms in terms of contact with others. Rest up.
For our analysis, we took the health reports from contributors reporting positive cases in the ZOE COVID Study app in December 2021 as Omicron became dominant and compared them with data from early October when Delta was the dominant variant.
We also confirmed these findings by analyzing data from a small group of contributors who had been told by the government that their positive PCR results were suspected or confirmed Omicron infections.
The top 5 symptoms in both periods were:
runny nose
headache
fatigue (mild or severe)
sneezing
sore throat
This analysis found no clear difference in the symptom profile of Delta and Omicron, with only 50% of people experiencing the classic three symptoms of fever, cough, or loss of sense of smell or taste.
Having been jabbed doesn't stop you getting Covid - especially Omicron. What it does do it stop it being as bad but you may still need hospital care if you are unlucky.
The advice here was to assume it is Covid - and not just a cold.
Dry feeling , scratchy Sore throat has been mentioned as the top symptom in some UK reporting.
If you have a LFT test at Home do it , it is definitely worth it. You will know one way or the other and be able to make arrangements based on it.
Get your Son to do one too .
In the meantime , even if it is a normal sore throat , paracetamol and extra fluids and Vitamin C with rest will help reduce the symptoms.
The tests are designed to help people , especially the vulnerable , the quickest answer they can so that they can start giving themselves the right help asap, reducing the risks of getting a more severe case.
I am mainly isolated after a bad infection before Xmas.
My husband is a secondary school teacher , as part of his job he must do three LFT tests a week provided by his employer, is your Son as a Janitor being given the same tests?
If not , he may be able to get them provided by his work, or local Covid service, free of charge to do at home if he explains that he lives with someone whom has an illness that classes them as vulnerable.
This will help give you more peace of mind when he comes in and out each week.
My OH has also got into the pattern of getting a shower and getting changed leaving his work clothes hanging in a room I do not enter just in case there is a chance of him carrying anything in on his clothes , hands etc.
Hi Mstiles, how did you go? Just wanted to let you know my experience, I had omicron, I’m triple vaxed with Pfizer and my covid experience was not too bad( 😅 thank goodness) hubby got it at the same time so we were exposed at the same time and able to quarantine together. I have PMR and currently on 7 mg Pred.
Scratchy sore throat was the first symptom, it was very obviously sore in my neck not my tonsils, then random big sneezes, a wet but not runny nose ( annoying, more like hay fever) a dry cough for a day and a night but not extreme, an annoying tickle, I relieved it with cough lozenges, no temp, no loss of taste and no additional aches. A bit tired but not exceptionally. It was done and dusted after 6 days. We feel we were lucky; we are in good health, the middle of summer and not working so no stress. I have asthma and I was a bit breathless so I used my preventers in the same way I would if I was getting a cold and I checked my blood oxygen levels which remained 95% and above so I escaped with mild symptoms. There has been a bit of residual tiredness but it could be the heat (hot summer here 😮💨) hydralite helped with this but we also could lounge around and read a book because we can 😃I feel it would have been different if I had to go to work.
I only relate my experience because I want to reassure people that not every case is going to be deadly. I was so scared and feel grateful that it was mild for me. For once I feel lucky 🍀😋
If you do end up with it I hope it’s as mild as mine. 🤞
Lilly Gee, my experience sounds very similar to yours. My tickly cough was the most troublesome as it kept hubby awake , I ended up sleeping in another bed for a few nights!
Morning Mstiles, I tested positive for Covid at New Year. It started with a scratchy sore throat and then heavy cold and a tickly cough. Fortunately I had no temperature or loss of taste or smell. I felt extremely tired and drained but am now almost recovered. I have just finished taking pred this week and had shingles in September. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my immune system is beginning to recover. I’ve had my 2 jabs followed by my booster plus a flu jab.I tested positive on a Home test so went and had a PCR too. Mine was positive and hubbys negative, however, he tested positive 2 days later. I would have a PCR test to make sure, especially if your symptoms continue. Take care and look after yourself x
Triple-vaccinated, one very tired day (thought it was just steroids/GCA), sore throat still didn’t really think anything of it, read about Omicron symptoms and did pre-supplied PCR test. By the time the positive result came back I’d developed the cough, the worst of which was only about 36 hours.Had only been to one coffee shop where we and others were unmasked for about 20 minutes - which suggests how transmissible it is, even when triple vaxxed … but they did their job by keeping the symptoms mild!
The best thing to do is support your immune system. A strong anti viral in first few days helps enormously. If u have not been supplementing w Vit D I would do a booster of this. Peer reviewed studies from around the globe support Vit D deficiency was found ALL hospitalization and death that were studied. Then Vit C, E and A & Zinc. all have a significant role in fighting a virus and protecting the cell.A probiotic is also an important addition.
COVid or not , these should be a part of our lives anyway. Good luck.
I have been wondering how those of us with pmr and on prednisone have been fairing if we contract Covid. My concern has been how effective are our Covid shots given the dose of prednisone we are on at the time (myself 40mg and 10 mg at time of second and third) and how we fair with Covid given the dose we are are on at the time
