Hello there. Perhaps you could describe the pain, where it is, when it is worst and what makes it better. Also, can you say what Pred dose you started on and how you reduced. It is possible that your PMR hasn’t gone away and you’ve reduced below the level you need, or it could be something else. Have you spoken to a doctor yet? The PMR people will be along soon.

Pain is hot severe under skin, no obvious color or signs. Inflammation or nerve? I have reduced pred now taking half a pill in a.m. only.

When my PMR flares it always causes hot inflamed skin, it did so especially in my right thigh for the first 2 years. You may need to discuss increasing your dose. If you are only in year 1 then it's possible you have missed your correct dose. Not many get away with under 2years on pred.

That side, any hot skin should be checked to make sure there is not infection too. Either way it's a discussion to be had with Dr and bloods etc checked.

Half a pill? Half a 20mg, 10mg, 5mg or 1mg?

What does inflammation feel like?

But without the sort of information Snazzy has asked about it is impossible to make any sensible suggestions.
