The vitamins that I take give me a bad taste in my mouth but I have found that peppermint chewing gum clears it completely! Wonderful! Stops me eating chocolate when I get the craving too! Thought I would share! Hope everyone is OK and staying safe xxxx

It's horrid isn't it. I had a med one time that was awful. Post nasal drip makes everything salty...that wasn't nice....peppermint, if it's oil, ok for tum too. No chocolate??!!!🤪👍

Hmmmn —- Of course chocolate! If I’m being good just a few pieces after dinner but sometimes every inch of me wants huge mouthfuls of it—— peppermint gum takes the edge off it! 🤣🤣🤣

If you can go out or order online, saline spray for babies may help too. After all taste and smell intimately related.

That’s interesting Poops. At the moment I’ve just started my pollen allergy and am using antihistamine nasal spray but I’ve used it for years and never had a bad taste from it.

in reply toSmokygirl

Oh yes...big culprit. I smell manure when I use it but it could be when you take certain meds etc.too. Saline helped better and though the first year I overused it and got a dry nose....just doing it about 3 times a day helped pollen sensitivity etc.

Do you think it would cure the manure smell here? If it is a nice day and you think you'll sit on the balcony or hang out the washing you can guarantee some farmer will think otherwise ... ;)

If I get into the wilds again I will check it for you.

That's horrid. Does it just hang in a valley or something??

Not really - they spray the effluent from the cowshed on the fields ... There is a local processing plant that produces energy from it and returns a dry non-smelly fertiliser to them. But that's not "traditional" ...

Good ecology then.

I grew up in the country and I never had to put up with anything like this is for a few weeks after the ground has thawed in spring. Even the washing stinks ...

I wonder exactly what it is then, they do vary in content!!..😏

I never was a fan of the manure my dad used or the chicken pooh. Especially as they went away for the summer and my job was to care for the greenhouse and do the chicken pooh feed.🤢

Our house was on the side of a bowl valley and with an uninterupted view across to a farm with chickens and a silage pit. It stank when the wind was from the wrong direction!

Doesn't smell any better close up when dissolved.

My mother came from the country, she used to say it was a healthy smell!

There is a limit - and it is frequently exceeded at this time of year ;)

in reply toPMRpro

It must be the micro climate as well as all the matter....

I don’t mind the manure smell as long as it’s not pig stuff—— I’ve always had horses!!

Cows - the milk supply, grass and hay fed only

in reply toSmokygirl

It's fine until it's dissolved. 🤢

This thread immediately reminded me of Blaster Bates and The Shower of Shit over Cheshire. Not very PC though if you choose to listen to it on Utube !!

It’s not the one with the steroid in it—- I smelled cigarette smoke everywhere with that one—& no one in my family have ever smoked! Mine is just pure antihistamine.

I shall certainly have a look at the nasal spray for babes!

I really can't go without my choccy....nothing compares. I've never smoked or drunk alcohol, so we have to have some vises, don't we ??

Same here —- never drank or smoked. When I was at Art College in the 60s everyone smoked pot. They used to make pot cookies at parties, specially for me—- but they only made me giggle!!! Happy days!!
