What has happened to our wonderful PMR/GCA forum? We have become paranoid about something which has nothing to do with our forum.
There should be a special site to deal with this!!

I agree we have been inundated with this and to be honest there is enough info on here if people bothered to search before posting repeat questions. YBB
All the important/new ways of dealing with this could be put up on a different site!
We cant do that ourselves but we do need to draw a line and say no more on here about it. Possibly deleting any new repeat posts. We have said what there is to say on the subject and if an important update comes in we will post accordingly. YBB
Maybe rather than deleting new posts with repeat questions , replies could be turned off after a message has been added to remind the writer that the information can be reached via posts on the page.
The people may have PMR or GCA and never thought of trying the forum before , but wanted to go to a site now that would help them specifically in relation to their illness . We do see new faces all the time , especially when a health or infection crisis of any sort is on , they wouldn't have learnt how to use the site yet and it wouldn't be fair to cut them off from help just when they felt anxious or in need.
But existing and long standing members could possibly get back to more business as usual , or just add helpful and practical tips about coping with being at home , exercise , shopping etc. Things that would be useful to us all with PMR or GCA during the coming months.
And leave adding research updates and new Covid info posts to the Moderators and Charity itself.
If members felt they had found something useful they could send the link to Moderators first and they could see if it was helpful to put up.
Less Covid updates would probably help alot of members to get less Anxious and Confused with all the growing information.
That's my opinion only , I understand if others disagree .
I was thinking along the same lines Bee. It is an anxious time for all of us and it is important to safeguard our mental health with these conditions. Especially if people are going to be self isolating. I have noticed a number of new names appearing. As a group we are particularly vulnerable to this virus, that gives it a relevance. On the other hand people shouldn’t feel that they can’t ask purely PMR/GCA questions. I think the forum will settle into its original purpose but we can’t ignore the elephant in the room, completely.
Our experts would not ignore C-19 posts. They would, of course, relay any relevant/new information. We just don't want to be inundated with news/comments every day (often from those who are in no way qualified to do so).
I have joined in with these posts over the last weeks but it just can't go on on a 'specific' health forum.
My opinion - I do not want to/intended to hurt anyone.
