What does everyone think is their worst symptom of PMR?

I personally think lack of motivation to do anything or to go anywhere!

Steroids help the pain but really have to push myself to do anything useful!

Down to 3.5mgs so perhaps New Year will put a spring in my step! Lol

Hope you are all keeping well

🤞

Fatigue has been my horror. Obviously pain and stiffness too but the fatigue has been overwhelming and the reason I had to retire early. And I already had ME and fibro and worked for years but this PMR took me to new levels of fatigue and something I can't quite explain. Maybe it's also the Pred. Nearly four years into it now, can't get past 5mg. Here's to an improved new year for all of us!!!

I find in many ways I am more motivated. When I look back at how I was before diagnosis I realise how far I have come. I have a Fitbit and that motivates me to walk regularly

Hello Xanthe12345, for me it has been leg pain when walking. From the start of PMR and GCA a month later, thigh pain, and a couple of inches below the hip joint. Terrible at first, now 18 months into my journey, not so bad, but bad enough. It limits me to half a mile in one go, before I need to stop. Trevor.

I think it's the fact that two things never line up together .

Some days I am full of Motivation and Great Plans but my body won't keep up with what I want to do and I'm lucky if I succeed at finishing any task.

Other days , my Mental Fatigue and lack of enthusiasm mean that although my Body feels like it could do more , my mind won't stir itself to leave the House.

So if I had to choose one thing it would be Pain , but as I have GCA/ PMR I hope you will let me have a bonus of two more , two F's , Fatigue and Frustration.

Nice question , thanks for posting xx

Lack of motivation (due to lack of energy) is horrible: I’m down to 4mg after 2 years , and know exactly what you mean. Mentally, I need to come to grips with my iPhone, but I can’t summon up the enthusiasm to make more use of it.

Physically, I hesitate to get involved with new activities, in case my fatigue overcomes me. I used to have several voluntary roles, but I’ve given them all up.

Perhaps 2020 will be a new beginning for both of us.

I agree - except I have mixed feelings about it! It gets me out of doing quite a lot of things!!!!!

I can't decide between the sweats or poor sleep pattern but I'm just grateful I don't have some of the aweful symptoms others have. No fatigue and my aches and pains well managed on 10 mg a day.

I find that from 5mg (am now on 3mg) the fatigue has been quite bad, have thought of volunteering several times as I would like to have something to do again, but am worried the fatigue would stop me being reliable and I don’t want to let people down. That and poor sleep the worst things.

Fatigue for me I think. It’s fatigue worse than I’ve ever felt before.

The damage done to muscles from pmr , and pred affecting other body systems. Led me down numerous paths of pain and discomfort from injury and other meds side effects. One thing just led to another. Hope that makes sense! Thx for putting the question out here. My best to you.
