Vit D dosage

Hi - I react badly to Adcal so I’m self dosing with vitamin D. I take 1000 iu plus 200 iu in my daily vitamin pill. Is that ok or too much? Advice is so contradictory I thought I’d check this out with people in the same boat! Thanks 👍

I have wondered this as the 200iu in adcal doesn't seem a high dose... More just enough to help that calcium... A guess😂😂😂 the healthline website says;

"All things considered, a daily vitamin D intake of 1000–4000 IU, or 25–100 micrograms, should be enough to ensure optimal blood levels in most people."

I had low vitd on dx of pmr and had the 25,000 (or was it 50,000) once a week for 6 weeks. I have thought of increasing, but like you did not know what dose... Theres ng iu etc in terms of dosage - confusing. The above dose are for most people but we aren't most people really. I need more spray vitk so might try 100mgs in the winter and if I get to hol and b I will ask there. I will be interested in other answers.

Thanks Poops - I feel we have a touch of the Poirot on this site, except that using our little grey cells isn’t so easy on Pred 😂

It's certainly not too much for most people. There are conditions that amke your level go high on that though - I try to get mine checked once a year.

25mcg is 1000 IU vit D - and when I am being good I take 2000 IU a day and occasional calcium/vit D equivalent to 400 IU per tablet. And lots of cheese ...

Doctor has me on 2000 iuFound vitamin K and 1000iu so take this and an extra 1000iu. Does not believe you need calcium if getting a fair amount in your diet. Apparently the vitamin D increases your calcium.
