A little history, 82 yo, diagnosed 3 yrs ago, on 4mg prednisone, a dead slow taper. Getting rather anxious about having 'brain fog'. This occurs about ever other day and lasts 1 to 4 hours. Really takes me to the couch till I can get thru it. I am a caregiver to my wife who is dealing with many issues related to her 2nd bout with cancer. I am not much help during these periods and if she has to go to dr. I am unable to drive or look after her. Others who have this problem? Any antidotes?

brain fog
Hi,
Brain fog is a recognised symptom/side effect of chronic illness of any sort - so you are not alone!
Do you have any close family or friends who can help you on very bad days? Have you spoken to GP or requested any external help?
This was posted on a sister forum earlier (and there are similarities between lupus/PMR/ any autoimmune illness) it may help you -
Was it better at a higher dose or has it always been a problem?
You are under a great deal of stress that is making this common symptom worse. It seems like you almost “ fuse” at times and can’t think straight. I think anyone with your responsibilities would find this alarming. You can’t laugh it off when someone is depending on you. You need help with all you have to do. It may be that your doctor can suggest sources of practical help for you as well as ensuring that you are in good health. Family or friends may be able to help but you have to open up to them first. Is the picture, the two of you, if so you look great. Ask for help, this is a lot for anyone to bear alone.
