I have been blaming the petechia I have been experiencing on PMR. and the prednisone. Mine isn't horrendous but bad enough. When is it a good idea to have it checked out further? I am weary of seeing Dr's .and don't want to go again if this is just a side effect and nothing can be done.
Thanks

I blame pred for thinning the skin. Never had them before pred. I don't think there's anything you can do about it except use a high quality skin cream to keep the skin moisturised.
Mine sometimes look as if I have been fighting with a wild animal, other times like I have just been pruning the roses. When I go swimming I count all the ones on my arms as I have a breather. I did ask the GP originally, who checked my platelets. As they go away eventually I just happily carry on counting them! I am not sure much can be done about them.
I think it's a case for skin cream as stated above. I started getting just a few.. I get double base gel and it's seem so far to stop then in their tracks and skin much better. 🌻
They are a common effect of pred - the capillaries in the skin become more delicate and easily damaged which allows blood to just seep out. Unfortunately they then seem to remain in a more delicate state - mine always recurr in the same place! I find arnica does help them fade thought not as well as for bruises.
