Mental and physical training for the 47th highest mountain in the world

My physical and mental training us going very well with less than two weeks before we head for the Nepal Himalayas for 32 days. I'm still in PMR remission and I feel stronger than anytime over the last six years (pre-PMR). I've completed several heavy pack (15kg - 20kg) days in the Lake District, Cheviots and Pennines, plus weight-lifting and running.

The photographs shoes a high camp during the climb up Annapurna IV. In a few weeks I'll hopefully be in a similar position with these awesome views.

Thank you :-)

You are a shining example to other PMR suffers, by showing that there is an end somewhere down the road. Awesome...👏

I wish you a safe and successful climb and look forward to reading further good news from you.

Bon voyage

Update please on how the total is moving up (hopefully) on the sponsorship in raising funds for PMR GCA UK.

Not just the 47th highest mountain, but the most dangerous...............take care, not only your families need you and the gang back safe and sound, but others in the North East where you run a support group.

We've now raised £298.35 and moving in the right direction. I've received some additional kit support from Rab, Osprey and Montane ... so all good. I'll keep you posted before we fly out to Nepal a week on Saturday x

Wonderful ... thank you for your support. Over the years I've completed over 30 world expeditions and climbed several of the worlds highest mountains but the remoteness, avalanche and crevasse danger, extreme weather conditions etc make the Annapurna Himal range one of the most dangerous in the world. I look forward in sending posts on my return. Take care and kind regards ... SkinnyJonny x

Wow. As a survivor of GCA and PMR, off prednisone for about a year, I am immensely amazed, proud and inspired. I am walking, yay. But this is -- whew -- a dream. As you climb, think of us, who can't do that, but are cheering you on. I would love to see the top of one of those mountains, maybe a small one! fantastic -- best, Lynn aka Whittlesey NYC

Visit my other story on 'Mountains are a Metaphor of Life" ... We love NYC and have run both the NYC marathon and the Tunnel to Towers run on two occasions each. Take care x

Thank you for your support, Lynn. As the North East coordinator for PMRGCAuk I'll be thinking of all the people with PMR and GCA, and the journey we are all on together. Whether I achieve the summit, or not, doesn't matter ... it's the whole journey with new experiences and adventures creating wonderful unique memories. For us all, everyday is a bonus and mountains are a metaphor of our lives ... mine just happens to be a real snowy, icy, cold mountain. Take care and keep climbing your mountain :-) xx

smiling. Thanks, Skinnyjonny. will do. When you are climbing up into the stars, many of us are with you in spirit, encouraging ---- for whatever summit, you seek.

trying to go beyond GCA and PMR, as we work on human rights issues, here in the states, we are currently working on an issue to get on the floor of congress. Repeal FISA. I'm not sure if I can put the link on here, but Repeal FISA is the issue and it is called that. It is a legal reasoning to Repeal FISA, which may be unconstitutional.

Let's both aim for our summits, gathering our backpacks, as we go

with spirit, best, Lynn aka Whittlesey

If you were here you'd be all over the local TV news! Reinhold Messmer has them well trained over such things!

Shame I'm nowhere near as talented or skilled as the great man. My hero for many years and I have over 10 of his books! To be mentioned in the same sentence as him is good enough :-)
