Had good news! I had my bi-monthly appointment at Marshfield Clinic yesterday. I started on 20 mags of Prednisone in January. Started my taper in April. (1 mg. every 2 weeks), I have been able to taper to 5 mg.with no major problem. I still walk “funny” and must rest after even minor effort because of fatigue. Only a minor twinge on occasion after a taper but generally, I have felt well. My Rheumatologist thinks I am doing well and no need to see him for 6 months. I am now on a taper of 1 mg. every month. I can go to my beach for the winter....😎🌴😎He told me to stay on a statin, which I quit last week....calcium and vit. D are important. Love my Rheumatologist.

Good news so far, but just be aware that it may not be quite so easy below 5mg. 1mg a month at these levels are not always achievable - you may find that 1mg every 2 months or 0.5mg per month - same thing - depends on how you prefer to do it!
If you need to rest after even minor effort and suffer from fatigue then I would say your adrenal glands are struggling - so a really slow taper is the only way to go!
Thank you. I do pay attention to my fatigue. Nap is required. I sleep 7-8 hours. I think that and stress elimination,...really helps me cope. I am looking forward to walking better.......I struggle to walk a half mile. Just knowing I have made progress in dealing with PMR has given me optimism for my well being in the future.
