I have suffered with this problem previously for years, tried all available over the counter chemist remedies with negative results and expensive exercise, did not try the tablets as did not wish to risk the side effects.
Read somewhere that a small trial using vicks vaporub showed promising results, tried it and it worked no more nail infection. Also bathed feet every couple of days with a few drops of bleach, additional to daily showers and Bingo.
Had tried the feet bathing previously as above whilst using chemist products no improvement, this is a slow progress as toenails grow quite slow but you should see improvement in 2 to 3 weeks and basically no cost.

Thank you for your response but did try tea tree with no improvement, did also try potassium permanganate "condis crystals", iodine and a few others to no avail.
Must admit did not try the vinegar or sodium bicarbonate, my problem was that it went back to the cuticle which unfortunately makes it harder to treat, it was a number of years with the problem and as with all treatments they are quite slow and by the time you realise the treatment is not working you have wasted up to 6 months, absolutely delighted that I no longer have the problem.
Thank you so much for this! I have had horrible nails on one foot for years (since PMR and Pred.?) and tried most things including tea tree oil- no luck. I will now try vaporub- a bit smelly though !
I was told that soaking the affected nail in Listerine for 30 minutes does the trick. It should be the original version, not one of the fancier ones. I haven't tried it, but certainly Listerine was marketed in former years as a floor cleaner and as a cure for gonorrheoa, so it must be versatile.
My brother in law had quite a bad fungal nail problem in a number of toes that didn’t respond to topical treatment. He didn’t want the oral treatment because it’s hard on the liver. He had great success with this regime which he got from somewhere on the Internet. Soaking in a mixture (google amounts) of cheap mouthwash and vinegar daily for as long as possible. When dry, rub in Vicks Vapour rub, or cheaper equivalent on toes and nails. It took a few months but has been 100% effective. How do people first find this out??
