Methotrexate and tapering

Morning everyone. On 13. weeks of methotrexate and all good. Nurse agreed I could start tapering by 1MG, happy about that but nervous. Previously slow tapering by half mg. Not sure whether to slow taper now on methotrexate or do alternate days for a week or just take the plunge.

Only one way to find out I suppose. About ANY of it. It also depends on what dose of pred you are at - at doses under 10mg you have to bear in mind the adrenal function must adjust too.

What dose of Pred are you on now? When l started MTX - l came down by 1mg per month until l got to 10mg then came down by 0.5mg per month.

I used a Four Week Taper - so the result was the same at the end of the month & l tapered without a hitch to 7.5mg - my health was then interrupted by other issues which included stopping MTX for Surgery.

I’m currently on a higher dose of injectable MTX (25mg) & am now back on 9mg Pred

I’m on 11 mg and have been for quite a long time now. I reduced to 10 this morning

Good Luck 🍀 are you just ‘going’ for it or thinking of tapering?

It’s a hard one. Think I’ll try alternate days for one week then go down to 10 🤞 thanks for your help
