If you use the search facility and type in CBD you should get a list of previous threads discussing it. So far the jury appears to be split, some find it helps their sleep, some find it does something but they can't identify what and most find it does nothing.

There is restricted experience available for legal reasons.

I will do that. Thanks for your response. I am in Florida where this treatment is finally getting recognition, but there is still a stigma around discussing it. However I am more than willing to try it, and go to a dispensary to get it, if I can find enough info.

I don't blame you. The medical grades are supposedly designed for different things now. A TV soap star with PMR from the UK went to California with another bunch of British celebrities suffering various health issues. She tried smoking, vaping, edibles etc. She said she felt better pain wise. In UK she can only take CBD oil which she does daily. As pmrpro says the reports are mixed on the oil on this forum.

PS - there are a couple of people on the forum who use cannabis - I hope they reply.

I use CBD oil and it helps me sleep better at night .It also seems to help in tapering.I live in Florida and buy it over the counter at Lucky’s Market. They run 20 % off sales which makes it more reasonable. You need to make sure it is 3rd party tested and doesn’t have added chemicals or THC .I checked out ratings on the internet before buying.

Hope this helps.

Yes, there are a lot of people who claim it helps with sleep. I have been sleeping pretty good lately, no proof of the cause. If something natural like CBD can help with sleep then it would benefit an autoimmune disease in a positive way.

Not sure where Lucky's is. Is there a selection of the CBD oils or is there one that you have found to be pure? Thanks for reply

I’m from Michigan, I use CBD cream on my foot, numbness pain from nerve damage, it takes 15 minutes to work, but I’ve found, it does work! Having back surgery next month, my granddaughter is going to buy me Rice Krispie treats with the good stuff in them. I will try them for pain.

Hi chiwawaa,

Here is what I know; since CBD is not regulated right now any idiot can put anything in the bottle and call it CBD.

Go on line and read reviews for the top 10 brands. Buy organically grown in the US that is third party tested for purity. Make sure the manufacturer makes the test results available per lot of CBD.

I don’t feel that it is any replacement for prednisone and possibly has no affect on GCA/PMR. I have tried different ones for the past few months and they have different effects. My purpose in taking it is to level out my anxiety and it is beneficial for that.

This is the kind info I was looking for. If I still have to take Prednisone, I don't want to try anything else.

There may be someone on here with a different opinion than mine. Check the older posts for that.

Have a great day🌻

Also, since there is so much money involved right now, big Pharma and the FDA will not wait too long to jump in.

Legal in 🇨🇦 Canada now. We grow our own. Locals hold seminars on how to process and use.

Are you using pred? If you are, are you sure your dose is high enough? You might not need to use CBD or any other painkiller if your dosage of pred is coping well enough with the inflammation.

Trying not to have to back on Prednisone Hoping CBD oil or other product would have less long range side effects. Prednsone agrees with me, I just know its not good for the long range . thanks for replying

Pred hasn't killed me after nearly 10 years. It allows me a life.

Be assured of one thing - CBD/cannabis alone is very unlikely to deal with the inflammation of PMR. It may just relieve other things running alongside the PMR and make the overall situation less uncomfortable.

It is legal here where I live but not widely available and very expensive. The Pain Clinic specialist I go to says they have many patients demanding it, but almost always for situations where it is not appropriate or would work.

And bear in mind too that anything effective enough to control any symptom, is also likely to have other effects. The effect on pain is just one effect - but happens to be an effect you want. If you didn't want it - you would describe it as a side effect.

I remember you told me about the inflammation from pmr is worse than taking pred, probably a couple of years or more ago. I have still not gone back on it, but it has never left my mind. I guess its a security thing just believing what you said and knowing if I have to go back on it...….it's ok, and I understand why. You are spot on about the carbs. I try to go 3-6 mon at a time without simple sugars, white bread and potatoes. The pain is so much less!! Its hard for me to do. Wish I could do it all the time.

Chiwawaa,

I use CBD oil not on a scheduled basis but when I think I need it, for example: tapering, pain from exercise, and sleeping. I 'think' it helps but it could be the placebo effect. As mentioned by other posts be careful where you get it, and it is expensive. I hope this helps.

I am a cannabis consumer and have found indica strains helped with insomnia/sleep disturbances when I had PTSD. Now that I have PMR, sativa stains help lift/stabilize mood given some mood swings I’ve experienced being on pred for over a year. I have benefited from the calming effect it provides, and somewhat with pain. Just ensure you don’t consume a strain that causes an enhanced appetite...pred does a good enough job at that.

Vaping is better than smoking btw.

I have found using cannibis in pill form helps me sleep at night and also lessens the pain. Legal in Florida with Dr. Prescription.

I use both CBD oil ( have tried several highly rated manufacturers ) and medical cannabis (have tried multiple ratios and delivery systems). Can't say that it has helped significantly. Still struggling to reduce my prednisone while still being able to live an acceptable lifestyle.

Assuming you can extrapolate the fact that foods that help with MS will also help with PMR this common sense article is a good read.

I have been using cbd oil for about 8 months. I really can't say it helps. I am thinking of not buying it again when I am finished with the bottle I have. However, it takes a month or so for the body to absorb it and start working. I think I may have to buy another bottle and slowly taper off of it. Maybe then I can tell if it was working or not. I have a friend who says it does wonders for her pain.

Good Luck

in reply toLinny3

I know many people historically that have taken cannabis in several forms and strengths. For some they never seemed to get any effect until they had consumed a lot, for others a small amount knocked them out. I suspect it's the same for CBD. It is expensive in the UK for the size of dispensed amount. I always supposed that when THC is left in that many people just don't care as much about the pain etc. If It was legal.and I was paying for it I want the whole thing😜😳
