UK Cannabis trial to include chronic pain

At last; a large medical trial to test use of cannabis to control symptoms in certain conditions.

There’s an article in The Guardian today outlining the details. Conditions to be included are chronic pain, epilepsy, MS, PTSD, Tourette’s, anxiety disorder and history of substance abuse. It’s going to use up 20,000 people and trial use over a two year period. The first trial of its kind Europe and called Project Twent21.

I can’t the link to paste but if you google cannabis trial Guardian, it brings up the article.

Sometime half way through I look blank at the screen and wonder where I am in the process. 🤯 🤣🤣🤣

Can't see many doctors considering PMR to be chronic enough!!

in reply toConstance13

Well, I think that the should try PMR for a good many years and they might change their mind. But I'm with you on your comment.

in reply toConstance13

I agree, but at least there are formal trials planned and some way down the line, there may be future help.

I develop Tourettes-like language when I flare with PMR ...

in reply toPMRpro

Lucky you; I’m increasingly prone to such outbursts at the slightest provocation😂😂

in reply toPMRpro

I hope it's not the bad language type?

I have actually become the muttering crone we see in old films. Soon it will be a cottage in the woods and a couple of warts..😱

There is quite a good article by Medical Cannabis Network healtheuropa.eu/project-twe...

It seems Prof David Nutt is running the trial over the next two years. He was the person who MP Alan Johnson dismissed from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs as he said he was being controversial.

You mean he was telling it like it is having had experience????

That is possible. I do remember the furore when he got fired basically. He did a very good interview on Life Scientific on BBC Radio 4.
