The next PMRGCA North East Support Group meeting is on Tuesday 16th July at 1.00pm - 3.30pm at St. Aidan’s Parish Hall, Front Street, Framwellgate Moor, Durham DH1 5BL. There is adequate parking at the Parish Hall, and it is situated only 1/2 mile from the A167, Durham train and bus stations.

We have two excellent speakers that are medical professionals and have been heavily involved in PMRGCA research and consultations over the last decade. They are going to deliver a presentation on “What is the best way for GP’s and Doctors to give instructions for long term steroid titration”. It will be an excellent informative and interesting meeting.

The meeting I attended today was excellent and well worth the time and effort.

Anyone in the North East should really try and go to a support meeting and join. The venue was easy off road parking. Tea, Coffee, biscuits and home made cake. People learnt a lot and the flow of two way information between the speakers and members was very informative.

The two Consultants, Dr Sarah Mackie a Leading Researcher into PMR & GCA, and Dr Saravan Vavidelu, Consultant Rheumatologist held a presentation, introducing a new initiative regarding raising awareness with the GPs in the North East and Cumbria which will commence early 2020. They took suggestions away with them from the patients that were present. They intend to come back in the future. The next meeting of the group will be in November.

Details will be on this link: pmrgca.co.uk/groups
