I’ve developed a really painful right buttock , hip and lower back. Haven’t done anything out the ordinary. Feeling right cheesed off and have a headache now! Sorry, having a moan and groan!

Sore hip
If it's piriformis syndrome then a moan and a groan is standard. Is it a sharp tightening pain in your buttock radiating to hip and lower back? I had it for about 3 months in year 1. It's still tweaks if I try and walk uphill or if I stand in one position for too long.

It’s a sharp pain more on the side of my hip but with sharp bursts in my gluteus!
Could be bursitis. I am sure someone will help. 😫ouch
You’re in the right place for moaning and groaning and getting a cuddle. Poopadoop has come up the word I was searching my empty shed of a head for - Piriformis. A skilled physio may well be able to re- balance you. Emphasis on skilled.
A physio sounds like a good plan!
A lot of my hip pain turned out to be referred pain from the spine, so that's what my physiotherapist focuses on treating. I also find application of heat very helpful, as in lying on a hot water bottle when I go to bed. Seems to relax muscles which tend to tighten up in response to pain and simply make matters much worse.
If you press on buttock with your fingers does it feel tender .
You could try as much presure as you can excerpt on it relieves the tension
If you have Physio ball this works as well
I have had bursitis in the buttock area since I had PMR - I now take a memory foam cushion everywhere I go. I dont have your back pain - maybe you have something different. I have also had Lidicane patches for long journeys which do help - on NHS prescription.
Hi, as others have said could be a few things -
Piriformis syndrome,
Bursitis, or
Myofacial Pain Syndrome (referred pain).
You could look them all up on web, but they have similar symptoms, so probably calls for a GP appointment. Good luck with that!
I’ll be trying the surgery on Monday!
Is it due to taking steroids?
Most people who complain about these things have PMR - so think it’s from that (you have that as well as GCA don’t you)? Although bursitis is sometimes from an injury which could be caused by side effects of steroids I suppose.
To be honest not certain.
Hi
I find my trusty hot water bottle helps plus I e just bought an electric blanket which is also helping. Please let us know how you get on. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Thanks . I’ve just refilled my hottie- you’re quite right, the heat has helped🌸
Hi
Glad the heat has helped. A pregnancy pillow has been suggested as it is good for support. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
