Some pragmatic advice re timings for thyroxine. I know there are a few with PMR and hypothyroid who juggle medication times

‘I stress that setting an alarm to wake up in the middle of the night just to be able to take levothyroxine well before breakfast is disruptive to sleep and health, and that this should not be done.’

Thanks for the informative link.

Thanks for this. I had read about not taking with other meds food etc so have always taken it on waking at least 60mins before all the other morning meds. But I had 2 friends who had been taking levo for years with breakfast & coffee. After taking it with 60mins gap they reduced their dosage of levo. It's important to know these things.

Hi

I found I was ok taking on a empty stomach before breakfast before Preds days but once on Preds it was a case of Preds at 6.00am with breakfast then Thyroxine 2 hours later just before I left for work

I have tried taking them before going to bed but often fall asleep and forget to take

Strangely its never made a difference to my Thyroid levels.

GP said we could try taking a week dose in one go but as it appears to have all been ok for last 4 years since Preds best to leave things as thay are

Thanks for posting this article. It reaffirms the regimen I’ve been following but stresses the importance of consistency.

You just answered a question I had percolating. I’m taking it now, Early hours Australia time. It’s awkward, I go to bed early and take Pred first thing. Thanks!.

Thank you , I understand I can’t take Levo at bedtime as I take other medication then, so I take Levo when I first wake up , and 5 mg of the Pred, then rest of Pred (and Omeprazole) with breakfast, giving up the Soy milk I was having with my cereal as I read this was a no no with Levo.
