Tears

Took myself off for a walk in our local wood this afternoon, well more of a slow wobble than a walk ! Part way round I perched on a bench and just drank in the perfectly clear blue sky , the mild breeze and the birdsong and found myself welling up with tears , such a feeling of well being . Well ok there may have been a smidgen of self pity seeing the occasional dog walker striding along about 6 times my pace.. but it didn't last long. Came home , OH made me a cuppa sat in the garden and read the blog, specifically Melissa...oh my , here are the tears again what a sad story.

So just to say I'm thankful for the life I've had and am having even with a few blips for OH and myself along the way...there is so much worse out there. Thanks for sharing your story Melissa even though it got the tears going again..Di

The Japanese have a practice called forest bathing, you immerse yourself in the forest and your spirits are lifted. It works for me and obviously for you too.

We have all been crying with Melissa this afternoon, empathy is good for us all.

Thankyou for your reply scats....the wood is only 5 mins walk (if you're fit) from my house and have been many times but don't know why today was different ...I'm 8 months (dx) into this PMR started on 20mg and reducing by 1mg a month but although I've felt physically a little better this last month, emotionally and mentally not so good. I've now read about the forest bathing , thankyou, I'll be visiting the wood a bit more often...Di

We live near an estuary on the south coast. My place to lift my spirits was always the sea defence my dad built to protect his farm. There is a path along the top and you can sit there and watch the tide come in and out over the mud flats. There are always waders and flocks of sea birds to watch. I even revised for my exams there.

Now my brother maintains it and until PMR I still loved sitting there, but at the moment I can't quite walk that far. I'm working at it, only one field away now, but the going is very rough!

Three years PMR, still trying to get below 10mg.

We love sitting by the sea particularly where we can watch the birds, unfortunately the nearest coast is 100 miles to the east and the same to the west so doesn't happen as often as we'd like...Sorry your journey's a slow one but I wish you well...Di

I admire you for saying you had such a feeling of well-being. The prayer of many of us here. Also that you express how thankful you are for the life you've had. Long may you have the well feeling.

Thankyou Suedehayes...I think when you "like" it then goes to "unlike" in case you want to change it....at least I think that's how it works...☺

That’s how it should work Di, but it doesn’t add up the “likes” any more - at least it doesn’t for me!!!

Thankyou Constance13 and karools16...I feel very fortunate that I only have one illness to contend with compared to many people on this site. Also I have happy healthy children and grandchildren and that means more to me than anything...All the best to you ...Di

I am so glad you had your time of well being. Those are times to celebrate. It is difficult to see others lapping us, but good for you to get out in nature and enjoy the beauty of life. Sounds like you are making some positive strides. Good for you.
