I'm in my second Unna Boot for skin tears to facilitate healing and add compression to enhance blood flow. The doctor had recommended this now since I have some tears, one from bumping my leg but the other two just from removing my compression hose. Since my left hip is a hip replacement and revision and my right ankle is fused with a rod in it..... I am not super flexible and my sock-aid does not work on the fused ankle. ππThe doctor ordered these on Amazon for me because that was cheaper than getting through her office and she didn't think my insurance would cover them. They are great!! You don't even know you have them on...and I only wear jeans and slacks--but even if I could wear a dress I would wear these because they are so light and comfortable.

They look great so pleased you have found something to help. π
How great is that doc for thinking outside the box to help a patient?
That's exactly what is needed... Great stuff am saving post for a friend. ππ»
I responded to an inquiry from PMRpro regarding links...hope it helps~! Poopadoopy...~! Love it~!
Can you give us a link - I can't find anything that looks like that.
I wanted to respond to this before 'my friends across the pond' went to bed. If I had purchased them through the doctor's office, they would have cost $175US, and I paid $80US per leg on Amazon. Since my son and grandchildren live in Canada, I know the prices can vary, so I looked it up on three different sites... I hope it helps~! They will come with a cotton tube for you to slip your leg into so that they do not slide down during the day.
On Amazon/UK, there were some less expensive calf wraps, and I don't see why they wouldn't work. Amazon is excellent about returns, so that they might be worth a try.

π I'm so glad to have the chance to help a little...you have all made this journey tolerable for me~!
I don't need them for me - but they are brilliant and something I will keep in mind for others. Thank you!
I love solutions these days more than anything! I like the sound of your doctor! So much better than wrestling with stockings.
Not just the struggle, Jane...my skin is so thin that the hose tears it sometimes. I think lots of Doctors in the states are so frustrated with insurance companies they will do what they can to help the patient.
I'm one of the fortunate ones who pay only $50 per month and I even get drug coverage. I always have a co-pay of $20 but can see any Doctor I want, that is because my husband was in a union. Some folks pay $800 or more a month. I have to carry separate insurance for dental and eye care....they don't pay much, but it is something..." says the gal who just had two root canals~!" Well, I got off on a tangent~!π
I always say thank god for nhs despite its foibles. I get my eye checked (diabetes), my teeth sorted, and scan etc. I did pay in for almost 30years so it's not free... But its free at the point of access.. (is that the right phrase??).
It sure works for me~! No matter how you phrase it~it works for you and that is what really counts.π
