Bottoms of my feet burn when I walk. Is this related to PMR? What is the treatment if any?

Planter fasciitis?

It is rare but Vit B5 deficiency causes burning feet. Fatigue, insomnia, and stomach pains are other signs of deficiency. It is water soluble so not toxic as you wee it out every day. Might be worth a try.

Though if it is plantar fasciitis, orthotics could help. Mostly though, people describe PF as painful rather than burning. Hope this helps.

The soles of my feet felt as if they had been sandpapered after I'd walked any distance, especially in light shoes. It was better when I wore laced up walking shoes. It did improve eventually and it isn't an issue at all now.

barbrhy, if you are experiencing this pain mainly on the soles of your feet, then my experience has been similar to that of PMRpro. It started long before my PMR/GCA days and the pain felt like walking on sharp stones. Orthotics helped considerably at the time. However, I found that the pain reappeared during my later years with PMR/GCA and was then aggravated by callouses forming on the soles of the feet. I have to keep this under control with regular podiatry treatments. It seems that I have very thin skin on the soles and not a lot of flesh - perhaps steroid-induced thin skinning was a contributory factor. Shoes with heels and thin soles are now a no-no, and my best find/friend in the last couple of years has been Sketchers shoes/trainers - now walking on air! I hope that you, too, can soon find a resolution for your foot pain. Good luck!

Every time I put my shoes on it feels as though my socks are rucked-up under my soles. I used to take them off again to check - and they weren't rucked. Now I just try to ignore this strange side-effect.

I think it's Planter Fasciitis as my friend has exactly the same thing burning on the sole of the foot yet her foot is cold to the touch, I was diagnosed as PF. I help her by massaging her feet it seems to relieve the pain for her on the soles of her feet where the PF is. Also I told her to excersise her feet on a bone shaped item with nodules on it when she is sitting down, it does seem to help her..
