Sore feet
I had really painful feet with PMR before I went on pred and I have heard others saying they had similar problems. I felt as if I was walking on a mixture of sharp pebbles and broken glass and wearing a pair of shoes a couple of sizes too small or as if my feet were bound up like they used to bind Chinese women's feet! It was worst when I first put my feet on the ground of a morning or when standing up after sitting for a while. After I hobbled for a few minutes it got less painful. I also used to feel as if the insoles of my shoes were like sandpaper and I'd been rubbing my feet on them!
It isn't normal no - but it happens!
You have summed that up perfectly it is like walking on broken glass and if shoes are to small. Thanks
yes but had mine 12 month after coming off pre. and thought it was because i didnt have good shoes on in lockdown. but my remedey was sat pointing my toes to the floor then heels ans twisting both feet around in a circle every time isat down, and now it has gon, if you do it hard and long when you stop you can feel the blood puslsing in side you calf
Hi Karen - yes I have this too. Started when I got down to around 2.5mg pred and I’ve had it for months. Mine hurts my Achilles’ tendons in both feet, soles of feet too. Worst first thing in the morning and when sitting for awhile - long walks can make them hurt also. X
Yes, sore and tingly feet, and ankle cramps. I'm on 17.5 and this only recently started. Feet play up from early hours until I've done a bit of walking around, but leaves me very conscious all the time of that muscle that runs the length of the sole of your foot. One of the many mysteries of PMR??
Not a muscle, a ligament, the plantar fascia, which develops plantar fasciitis

It doesn't seem to be considered something that happens more in PMR - but it could well be.
I know someone whose feet felt full of pebbles and glass and all other symptoms and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis.Strange ??????
As I've said before - the knee pain I was assured 14 years ago was OA, which disappeared (like the foot pain) with moderate dose pred and which has only returned during a flare of other PMR symptoms, seems to have been cured - 13 years later an x-ray showed NO sign of anything that could be construed as OA.
