Has anyone used BioSil for hair loss from Prednisone?

Has anyone used BioSil for hair loss from Prednisone?
And... HAPPY EASTER!
Hi Cassie
Happy Easter 🐣
I’ve not come across BioSil before, l had thinning hair from the Pred & possibly the Methotrexate but then l had to have Chemo following breast cancer so that saw it off completely!
After 12months l tried Biotin, one of the B Vitamins but have now progressed to Philip Kingsley Trichology Range including Supplements & hair treatments, expensive but after 2years with no hair l treated myself & there is a definite improvement both in texture (what hair l had was like wire wool) & it is definitely thickening up, l wear a wig most of the time & always when I go out, it’s Fabulous & l love it but really l don’t have a choice 💁🏻♀️
Let me know about the BioSil if you try it.
Best Wishes
Mrs N 💅🏼
Thanks. I’m doing Biotin now. Probably check with docs first. Wonder sometimes if the pharmacists are more knowledgable.
Hi Cassie
Yes, I had a Consultation with my Pharmacist, he researched all ‘hair supplements’ for me & crossed referred them against my other Meds & asked me to get the go ahead from my Rheumatologist first & he’s asked me to report back to him, which is very reassuring.
Last week another Locum Pharmasist questioned me re my Pred & Methotrexate as they are both immunosuppressant’s, I assured her l was aware of the risks & why l never use the ‘Community Pen’ 😂 or hang around in the Chemist waiting for my Meds, she was impressed!
Take Care

Impressive. I work retail & many young ladies are picking up on the pen. I use gloves & wash my hands constantly!
Wow! What an amazing tree! Happy Easter!
I haven’t tried Biosil. My hairdresser has been a help with a clever cut and low lights. The Adcal has given me the best finger nails I’ve ever had.
Let us know. I try all sorts of big promise shampoos. I think my hair is getting better.
Thank you Jane. And Happy Easter to you. I’m not familiar with Adcal. Great cuts & lowlights really do help, don’t they?
Wow 're the tree. I haven't used anything as yet. I find when I dye my hair it is better for a while.
Right. Does give it more body
Where is the tree? The place we lived in Germany was famous for the village wells being decorated with eggs like that for Easter.

This is the only link I saw. I found it on a Facebook PMR site. Nice to know it’s a “thing”. Happy Easter!
We went to the Berlin Christmas markets last Christmas. There were beautifully decorated real Christmas trees on every corner. So tasteful and charming. Interesting to hear about the Easter Wells. We live near the Peak District and they do Well Dressing in June/ July in the villages. They are festooned with flowers etc. Quite a sight.

I'm not wearing a wig as I would be too hot. I wear a wide cloth headband, when I have to go out in public. Some might think I have cancer. I started with a lot of hair, thankfully. I have been on relatively high dose prednisone since 2/2017 (15mg/day decreasing 1mg every 3 weeks after a flair last fall) . I started with the moon face after 2 months. It was between 2 & 4 months the hair loss started. I could hardly finish my shower as gobs & gobs of hair were coming off. I wash my hair less.
Maybe 6 months to a year before the GCA & PMR were diagnosed I had my second episode in 10 years of patchy alopecia areata. It was my left temporal artery that was most affected with GCA having palpable bumps in it. And there was an alopecia areata patch above it. So, when they shaved part of my hair to do the biopsies, this area of my scalp already had the classic circle of hair loss. And when the hair returns after alopecia areata, it is different at first. They describe it like an exclamation mark. And where they took out the arteries, there are scars & hair loss. They just cut off the circulation & don't reattach the ends of the arteries.
My scalp gets pink at times with the Alopecia areata. And when I was having a flair of GCA the front patch of my scalp skin was tender & pink. My dermatologist thinks their related.
The prednisone gives male patterned baldness. The hair that is still trying to return is very thin and hardly grows. I naturally have frizzy hair. But, what is around my face is now only a few inches long & sticks straight out. I use a plastic headband to hold this Bozo clown hair down. I blow dry my hair upside down to cover the scalp showing without resorting to teasing the hair.
My colorist is my son's friend & comes to my house. I find she's coloring the facial hair along my hairline that is blond. She leaves me to wash it out. And I make sure it looks like part of my head hair. Sometimes I even wipe away some of the color to give myself a widow's peak.
I use cream rinse in the shower. The hair that's there is mostly thin & straw-like. I use BioShine silk polish after I wash my hair. I used to use hair clip from Karina for extra thick hair. No need now. It's just takes way too long to be presentable.
BTW, who is taking down all those eggs from the tree? Now, that's a lot of work.
Talented and creative people for that amazing photo, ConventCassie!
I used perfectil Hair supplement from boots witch seem to help
No. Not familiar. I take Biotin 1 hour before I eat breakfast and before bed per my rheum. I also take Vitamin D3, 10,000 one time a day plus 2 500 mgs. of calcium with magnaseium, potassium and zinc 2 times a day and other supplements. These in particular have stopped the hair from falling out. I color my hair every 8 weeks and brush WOW into the gray spots. My hairdresser said every 8 weeks is best not wvery 5 weeks, plus she uses low volume peroxide. As you taper down hair loss is supposed to slow down.
Happy Easter everyone, I am swallowing a Letrozole tablet every day after being treated for breast cancer. I have to take it for 10 years, theres optimism for you !! Sadly this tablet causes thinning hair. I didn't have great hair to start with. I have a very nice wig, which draws a lot of compliments. I wear it when I go out, but when I'm with good friends who know what I'm coping with, I don't wear it. Its get hot and scratchy. I am on the look out for a snazzy baseball cap or similar for the summer, as the hair on the crown on my head is very thin, but strangely the hair around the sides and back looks almost normal. I also take Adcal vitamin D supplements too, as Letrozole can cause Osteoporosis.
first you have to find out if it is low estrogen, testosterone or dht, low d3, omegas, b12, or ferritin....fungus, or thyroid...or stress cortisol......it is a different approach according to the reason and many times it is more than one things such as low stomach acid that causes no absorption of vitamins from food yet taking braggs apple cidar vinegar 2 tbsp. b4 every meal with a straw to protect teeth enamel will remedy that....and many times drs write off low normal which is bad for hair loss since many don't know a lot about hair loss....
also taking hydrolyzed collagen and vitamin c together is suppose to help especially if you find one with all 5 kinds of collagen in it....
I didn't see any difference from biosil...and I just discovered mine was linked to low estrogen...
Pretty sure it’s an effect of the Prednisone. Aren’t we supposed to have low estrogen after menopause? So...you actually took BioSil?
