Hair loss/prednisone

I had considerable hair loss after being on and then gradually coming off Prednisone for an autoimmune disease. (ITP) In less than a years time my hair has come back completely, for which I am both surprised and grateful, given that I am 75 years old.

Hi there. Glad to hear that you regained your hair growth and are now off the Prednisolone. Did your hair loss start while you were on the drug or when you came off it? Thanks, Angela.

You've given me new hope! I'm 84 and presently at slow pred reduction of 9 mg., with steadily thinning hair. But ADDITIONAL hair (oh lord) on my chubby face! I assume you didn't have that little problem, and I'm glad..................................... I spent $25 to order a packet of tiny razors for facial hair, but no luck in using--still looking for advice in that area.

I had a wonderful dark beard when I was on Medrol - the Mayo clinic has a picture on its site that is exactly the same! Didn't get it - my head hair has been snow white for 20 years!

I had a Braun epilator which I'd used for leg hair for years and I tried that on my face - it plucks the hairs. It worked very well and I know a few others have used one too. They now sell smaller ones specifically for facial hair. It's a bit nippy the first few times but it didn't bother me when I saw the result!

Have you tried a cream I use Nair for face just remember to do a patch test no pain
