Is it any wonder why it's hard for people to get enough natural vitamin D3 when living in the northern hemisphere?? Can't absorb much with five layers of clothes on..supplemental D3 is a must in the winter...no shoveling today, clear and cold and I'm stiff and sore!! Haha...early yet, the pred hasn't kicked in..coffee time..THATS RIGHT..COFFEE!!! I hope everyone has a good day..we're not suffering we're living with a chronic situation the best we can!! A whole week of below zero temps..minus 13F today..it gets warmer as the day goes on....I bet it's the same in Minny!!

Daylight in the U.P. Michigan..-13f. -25c......brrrrr...

Had to add the "suffering" part..got a relative that keeps saying "I hate that your suffering so much everyday". I hate that he thinks that way...I try to explain....it's no use...same thing when he says, "yah, my shoulders ache too after I exercise"""......throat punch...

It's only just in the realm where theoretically you can make vit D all year round - so like the bunnies who live north of you - you'll have to do overtime in the summer to stock up on stored vit D to carry you through the winter
Vitamin D can only be manufactured in the skin if your midday shadow is no longer than your body, no matter what the temperature is.
true, and when the sun is so low in the horizon and the only skin showing is a portion of my face, I aint gettin' much.....plus who stays outside long in these temps...

Beautiful picture!
I have just spent 4 weeks in Australia 39 degrees, I was almost pain free and much more awake. Huge infusion of vit D. Slid back to normal blerg within a week in the cold damp U.K.
I know, it's amazing what some warmth and sunshine can do..spent four days in Texas the first part of January, by their standards it was cool, but a few afternoons of 70 and sunshine felt great..
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It was 23 degrees (not minus!) here in Brighton, UK and I thought that was cold!
Those of us in the Northern Hemisphere (I'm from Ontario, Canada) have to put up with with cold and no natural Vitamin D in the winter. In fact, when I was growing up, my mom always gave us cod liver oil (ugh!) in every month that has an "r" in it! But take heart, even though it is -20 C and there are mountains of snow everywhere, the street lights don't come on now until 6:00! Spring is on the way!
