I did it!!!! Went to the Tap dancing class. and It was wonderful. Good for my BRAIN. OMG like doing a crossword puzzle and learning a new language at the same time! good for my strength..could feel it in my legs during the class... good for balance.. didn't fall over..but nearly! and... good for my bones..practically felt the laying down of sweet new bone as I tapped. Mostly it was GREAT for my soul!!! There were 8 women close to my age..a little younger.. and everyone was having fun. And the BEST part? didn't think about PMR for even one second during the hour. Now to practice with some YOU TUBE videos at home so I won't be the very klutziest one in the class...although someone has to do it and I don't really mind one bit! shuffle ball change !!

Hi Yogabonnie

I'm so glad you enjoyed the tap dancing. I don't post very often, but had to do so today. I've been a clog dancer since childhood. I was sent to classes as a response to wanting to do ballet. My mum was very astute and, although we both loved watching ballet, she realised that I wasn't built for it. She made a good investment, as I am now 70 and have danced with various clog teams most of my adult life. My PMR developed following the trauma of a slipped disc almost four years ago. Things are much better, but I suffered a bit of a flare after another slipped disc last July. The dancing didn't cause it, as we were having our summer break. The physiotherapist was amazed at the strength of the muscles in legs and said that, for me, continuing to dance wouldn't cause any further damage - I've proved him right. The other positive is that a dexa scan showed my bones to be very strong. Do keep dancing, as it has great physical benefits to say nothing of the mental buzz you get from doing something with a group of like-minded people.

Best wishes

Jen
