NEW (Silly) Book for PMR and GCA Survivors: You asked for it! ‘Write Me Funny - Ramblings on The Lighter Side of PMR and GCA’ ;-)

Dear Friends, Polymalingerers, GCA Crusaders and Pred Playmates everywhere

Yes, a few of You Lot might have been wondering why I’ve been (q.) ‘Quiet’ recently, and probably heaving a sigh of relief at the same time (and understandably so!).

Ok, so here’s my Latest News:

To satisfy the massive demand from my 5-and-a-half (clearly deranged) ‘Followers’ here, I’ve been working on and am now delighted to announce the imminent publication in Book Form of a compilation of my Witty (allegedly..) Ramblings here over the past couple of years.

With a Foreword by Penny Denby, PMRGCAuk Chair of Trustees, lively illustrations, and the story of my personal PMR Journey and how I became involved with the PMRGCA Community, ‘Write Me Funny - Ramblings On The Lighter Side..’ is intended as an antidote to the important but often more serious books on PMR and GCA. At the same time, just a little of the content comes from my Reflective Side, and based on my other more serious professional 'work' in the Process of Change and Human Development.

Here’s the ‘Heads-up’ on the book for your interest:

Title: ‘Write Me Funny - Ramblings on The Lighter Side of Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis’ - by Mark Benjamin

Format: A5 Paperback, 84 pages with cartoons by Anthony Allen

Content / Style: Humorous alternative to the important but usually more serious publications on PMR and GCA. Please note! ‘Write Me Funny..’ is not a medical book nor does it give professional / health advice - that’s best left to your Doctor and / or the HU forum Aunties (experts) here… ;-)

Price for UK orders: £12.50 including delivery by Royal Mail 1st class ‘Large Letter’ postage at cost.

For orders from outside the UK, please enquire direct (see below)

for Delivered Prices, For Ordering and Payment methods (see below also)

Availability: anticipated Thursday 14 December.

Want it in time for Christmas?

UK orders received by Tuesday 19 December will be despatched by Thursday 21 December (n.b. this is the Royal Mail ‘Last Posting’ date for pre-Christmas deliveries).

Donation to PMRGCAuk: I will give 25% of the net Sale Proceeds from each copy in appreciation of the Charity’s kind support in making my book available here.

For more information about, and to order ‘Write Me Funny..’ online:

This will be available in the forthcoming online version of the PMRGCAuk Winter Newswire with a link to my book website, where you can read brief extracts and see details about ordering and payment options. Also, in the printed version of Newswire which you should receive very soon.

(Important! To protect your Personal Data and Privacy, please DON’T give any private or financial information in a publicly accessible Post or Reply on the PMRGCAuk Health Unlocked forum).

At the same time, I appreciate that some of Us Lot in the PMRGCA Community don’t use the Internet regularly and / or make purchases online. Also, you might just want to get to the front of the Queue for my Silly book out of sheer, pent-up excitement for something Funny (allegedly) to read over the Christmas season after all of the associated Stresses - only joking!.

So, if this applies to you (or perhaps a friend or relative with PMR or GCA?), you can also receive more information about my new book, including UK and International delivered prices and alternative ordering and payment methods.

Either way, if you want more details about the book or want to reserve / order a copy of 'Write Me Funny...' in advance, please get in touch directly by:

.. and I will send you full details by e.mail, or by post if you prefer. (! Please make sure to include your contact details with all enquiries / orders).

I hope that ‘Write Me Funny - Ramblings on The Lighter Side..’ will help you to keep smiling on your PMRGCA Journey in between the Tough Bits. And, of course, in buying my Little Book of Silliness you’ll also be helping to support PMRGCAuk in its valuable work.

So, hopefully, we all get a Result in one way or an other !

Sincere thanks for your friendship and support, and Best Wishes from a fellow (if Slightly Bonkers) PMR Survivor for a Happy and Peaceful Christmas Season and an ongoing recovery - whoever, however and wherever you are right now..

Keep Smiling on the PMRGCA Journey! ;-)

MB :-)

Congratulations! Wonderful. But i wonder if you do this book as an ebook? I much look forward to reading it but the trouble is I no longer read books on paper. Mad I know but then I have PMR so it's to be expected....

I am long on patience. Had plenty of practice! Try Amazon? Or others? But I look forward to it when available.

When's the "launch" party Mark! My invite must be lost among the xmas post. Have you hired the Grand Pier, a most suitable venue for afternoon tea and champers lol!

Seriously, good luck with the book. They say everyone has a book in them so best to get it out or those bookworms can be very painful.

Thanks for all the smiles xxx

Wow - 5 'Zzz's (as opposed to the usual 3)! Should I interpret that as an oblique compliment?! ;-) :-D

Best wishes, and I hope you're doing well on your PMR GCA Journey

Thanks yogabonnie! :-)

Yes, I'm 'on the case' with an e.book version (a few of You Lot have asked for one already!), but I'm going cautiously since I've read that they can be technically tricky where illustrations are concerned. And... Amazon / similar intermediaries take a massive 'cut' for the privilege of handling the process (which means less to donate to PMRGCAuk), and their business terms look pretty horrendous too :-(.

That said, I recognise that there's demand for an e.version of the book and will work on it as quickly as I can. Watch this space...

Thanks again for your interest and support!
