Problems accessing site

I have had pmr for three and a half years and using the DSNS method am now dropping from 5 to 4.5mg pred. after trying to get below this magic number twice before. I have a good GP and a very supportive Rheumy so am very lucky.

I am very grateful for all the good advice given on this site so was very concerned when I stopped receiving posts last week and could not reconnect. I have rejoined with a different username as over the years have learned so much and want to continue to be a member of the community.

Hi Valeriebee,

Pleased to hear you're doing well.

I think many of us have had troubles with the site at some time or other for no apparent reason. Sometimes the glitch is their end, sometimes ours, sometimes - who knows! But very frustrating it can be!

Glad you're back.

Thank you DorsetLady, and thank you for your helpful contributions. I cannot pretend my years with pmr have not been bumpy at times, which is why I so value this site. Someone else always seems to ask 'my' question before I get around to it - it is good to know one is not alone.

Hi Valeriebee

I too am on 5 to 4.5 using Dorset Lady's guide. I too have had problems being locked out and signing on with a different name. However if you contact the IT technicians at Healthunlocked you will find them very helpful and they will sort it out. Don't want to be lost, I felt bereft when I couldn't get to my friends

Good Luck

Thank you EdithWales for your advice. I am 79 and I hanging on by my fingertips to modern technology but don't like to be beaten!

Hi Valeriebee,

Welcome back, I too had some problems using the forum due to my own fault. I was listed as PeTee70 but now I am Pastit if you see what I mean 😀 and yes I agree with you "I have learned so much" from some wonderful members who I now feel are friends ☺️

I've been seeing this method called DSNS mentioned several times, but am not sure what it actually means? I gather it is a method/pattern of reducing Pred, but it would be helpful to know.

I believe there are several different methods of tapering but the one I use is : -- 6 days current or 'old" dose, I day new dose / 5 days old dose, 1 day new dose / 4 days old dose, 1 day new dose, and so on. When you get to 6 days new dose it then becomes the 'old ' dose and you start the next reduction.

I am sure someone else will be along to explain things more clearly or to give alternative methods, but I hope this helps.

Thank you PMRpro. Much appreciated. I've printed your description so I can have it to refer to again and again, if necessary.
