Snoring is this the final insult!

Well I write this post having been sent to the west wing! Aka the spare room! Not because of a row but because I have developed horrendous snoring! Oh how glamorous I feel! Is this one symptom too far to be blamed on PMR or Steroids!

Must I accept that on top of everything else I can now start a new career as a wart hog impersonator!

I am down to 6 mg of steroids and not feeling as good as I was but hoping things will settle. The snoring included!

Night everyone if you listen long enough you may just hear me🐷

I'm told I don't snore by he who does, but I know I've got a thickened neck and can wake up making a sort of throaty sound. I also feel rather washed out at 6 mgs - tapering towards rather. Good night 😴

My husband used to keep our neighbors awake but has not snored since he fell off his bike and broke his nose, not a treatment option I would recommend. A friend suggests spraying your pillow with lavender, worked for her. My daughter's husband also does the 🐷Impressions she wears ear plugs. I used to get to sleep before he did and sink rapidly into a coma with the result that I can now sleep through thunder, minor earthquakes and any alarm clock. All the best, sleep well Zzzzzzzzzz

I developed a loud snore but as I have reduced prednisone to 2 or 3 mg and also lost weight it has gotten quieter. Phew.

I have started snoring too, Julie - just to add to the weight gain and wild hair - as you say, so glamorous! I reckon it is the weight gain around my neck/throat that has caused it so hope that as I taper and hopefully lose weight it will gradually disappear. In the meantime, hand out the earplugs! X

So glad I'm not the only one!

I live alone but kept waking myself up somehow..I decided to see if I was snoring myself awake. Recorded a night on mobile. My God there was an entire farm yard fighting and a train zooming along. No wonder I kept waking. I have started wearing bruxism guard to protect teeth from grinding and don't wake up quite so much and don't have raw throat in the am.

These posts are so funny and yet sleeping with a snorer can make you feel like giving them a vicious jab with an elbow. Culprit says sorry, turns over and it all starts again.

I think our snoring is caused as Suzy says by the Pred fat distribution in the upper body. Please let this disappear also when we reach the other side.

I'm sure you are right about the fat distribution while on pred and the snoring will stop once the extra weight goes away. There are a lot of jokes about snoring but it is far from funny and can be very frustrating if you are the one unable to sleep for the two tone alarm going beside you. Ear plugs.

When my husband stopped snoring the silence kept waking me up. 😟

Only now? Usually it happens earlier with unmanaged PMR or at higher doses of pred.

One morning my husband complained that I had been snoring so loudly and wouldn't stir when he poked me that he had to move to the spare room. I merely thought, welcome to my world, as he snores every night. But I do pity any visitors we may have. :D

My husband says I snore since having PMR but I obviously don't! He snores loudly and has done for years,it drives me nuts especially when I can't get to sleep.I treated him to some nose strips and they do help a bit,it's still annoying but not so loud.

Thanks everyone I feel a little bit better! Hoping I will one day be pain free, slim and a non snorer. Or maybe I will settle for pain free!! X

Well ladies you are one Cpap away from snoring. I have shared in the past that I would wake myself up gasping for air. I was 80 lbs over my original weight. I am still down 20 Christmas was hard but back on track. Anyway I gad the sleep test you do at home. They strap a monitor to you and it was found I had severe sleep apnea.

I slept so well with my new Dream Machice by resperonics. I am a side sleeper so I get the nasal cushion with a harness that goes over my cheeks and connects to the air tube at the top of my head. It is nothing like the ones that have hose off your face. Once I have it on I don’t even notice it until morning. My sleep has been so much better.

Snoring is the main sign of sleep apnea and that is unhealthy for us. Oh and you could actually kiss someone if you wanted when with it on. Ok it won’t get any glamour points but I feel so less weary since I have had it.

Lin - in case you hadn't noticed, this is a very old thread.
