Invest in a bedside fan!

The sheer bliss of cool air breezing across the bed in this heat is amazingly comforting. I don't think we tolerate heat that well, my hair turns into sweaty curls and clothes like damp rags. I honestly never used to sweat. Oh the joys!

Fully agree! Now last year my fans were redundant, didn't even get them out of storage! But this year is making up for that! I have two, one in my bedroom on all day and night ( one gets used to the white noise, and I find it quite comforting) and the other in the lounge.

However, one caveat, for optimum coolth it could be a little less humid!

Dripping day and night, hair vile, oh I won't bore you! 🙄

Morning Sheffield jane,

I too am troubled by the heat far more now I'm on pred and agree, looking like a wet dish cloth with sweat literally dripping down your face, soaking hair and wet clothing sticking to you is not pleasant, and couldn't agree more, having a fan in the bedroom is the only way to get some quality sleep. Try to find one that switches off after an hour or use one of those timer plugs which switch table lamps on and off during the winter months or if you go on holiday etc. ...this background noise can help you sleep if like me you are plagued by tinnitus. Lets hope the humidity drops soon, for everyone's sake.

Morning, I know how frustrating tinnitus can be ,just a thought, have you had a hearing test recently? I had one in February this year and it proved I need to wear hearing aids to make things easier and clearer. The other benefit is it helps to put the tinnitus in the background so I don't get so exhausted trying to follow conversations in noisy environments. Have a chat with your doctor to get referred for a test. There may be a tinnitus help group near where you live. Good luck

hello Meggie

thank you for your most informative reply.

Actually I have never had a hearing test! I came close to one last month when I made an appointment for my annual eye test then saw an ad for a hearing test which, it said, could be done in the same appointment as the eyes! I phoned, said I had an eye appt on the Saturday and could I please have the hearing test too. Well, you would think I had asked him to swallow a fistful of razorblades!

ItI turned out that they only had the hearing tests on Tues and Thurs, which I couldn't get to because I rely on my daughter who works all week. He had the nerve to tell me to tell my daughter to take off time to bring me there! his tone was so rude that I left the company and found another optomotrist, which I can get to on my scooter!

But no hearing tests , so will book at Boots down the road.

wow, that was a long one! 😃

I found out recently that because I had a hearing test at Specsavers I am not under the NHS! ...I may be able to go back to NHS in 3 years time when I'm due for a retest. Be Aware Boots are probably the same. You get free hearing aids and batteries but must pay for any damage.

Hope this helps, and if you need hearing aids it may take a little while to help with tinnitus, if at all. Best of luck.

Ps if you get them put them in as soon as you wake. ..the more sounds go in the ear the easier it is to control tinnitus, and unsurprisingly they are not water or shower proof. ..lol ;)

I agree. I sit out in the morning before it gets too hot and then retire to my shady living room with the fan running. As you say bliss !
