Skin rash?

Hello all,

Has anyone ever suffered a skin rash whole on predict?

Dr tells me it's not Shingles or Lymes disease, so awaiting blood test, just wondered if anyone has had a skin rash?

Yes, rash is listed as one of the 82+ side effects of pred. I do know a couple of people who developed a rash which reduced as the dose reduced. I suppose the question is which is worse - PMR pain or the rash! If it gets severe or you develop any other signs that are typical of allergy you need to see a doctor quickly just in case.

It may not be the pred itself - if you are on enteric coated pred or a plain tablet with colouring that can be the culprit and it also depends on the "fillers" that are included in the tablet. Your pharmacist should be able to tell you what they are.

That's interesting, except I am now down to 2 pre a day after being on them from 60 predict until one 3 years ago.

But at Dr.s this evening for blood test results.

Ah - then it is possible that you have an allergy to something that is part of the autoimmune part of PMR. At high doses the pred would have managed that too, now you are at a low dose it isn't enough. I am allergic to something in the structure of modern commercialised wheat - I develop a really itchy rash, a bit like the one that can occur with coeliac disease but it isn't that. At 15mg I could eat wheat, at 4mg the rash is back but much milder than it was originally.

Thankyou for that, I did think that, about the immune system.

I did go swimming at the local pool, and wondered if it was the Chlorine that has affected me, blood tests all O&, have been given anti histamine cream and antibiotic as rash has been quite bad for a week now.

So hope these do the trick. I hope this isn't the end of my swimming at the pool.

I swam in the sea during the summer. But bit cold now!!!!!!
