New Omicron Symptom - Skin Rash

The Zoe app has found a new symptom for the Omicron variant, a skin rash has now been labelled as "key" if you think you might have the variant.

People have been reporting two different kinds of skin rashes:

The first, and more likely to appear, is a hive-like rash, which has raised bumps and can be very itchy. It is thought this starts on your palms or the soles of your feet.

The second rash is a prickly heat-type rash, which appears all over your body, but more commonly on your elbows, knees and the back of your hands and feet.

The ZOE Symptom Covid Study said the top five symptoms of the variant are a runny nose, headache, fatigue (mild or severe), sneezing and a sore throat.

Symptoms of the initial form of the Covid-19 virus are also present such as a cough, fever and a loss of smell or taste.

Sneaky little devil isn't it!!! The guy downstairs was snuffling last week when I was in the shop. I asked if if it could be Covid and he said "just a cold" - they'd not heard that Omicron is more like a cold than what everyone thinks is typical Covid ...

My nephew says he has got a cold too. Desperately tired. He did to a lateral flow test which was negative, so perhaps I should believe him.

Not sure where - read an article this morning expressing concerns about testing because of the massive number of false negatives turning up, especially when it is "amateurs" doing the test. They also reckon a very high proportion of Omicron cases have no symptoms at all. But don't know if that also means they aren't shedding much virus.

I am sure quite a lot of people are messing up. They can do their own PCR tests too, if they could get hold of them! The true number of cases is probably quite a bit higher. Perhaps it will be herd immunity.

Another article was questioning the figures - given what it was 3 weeks ago it should be far higher now. Omicron has taken off. But I reckon more than half the Omicron cases just aren't being noticed - or ignored. If you have a cold in the UK at the moment it is probably 50/50 it is Covid. Once it gets to a certain point there will be a fall in cases and BoJo will have got his herd immunity by accident ... Except there is every opportunity now with the numbers everywhere for the next delightful variant.

The medics have said it is much much higher than reported. New Year celebrations should be interesting!

Actually - just seen the article again - they reckon 75% of colds in the UK are actually Omicron. Wandering around, without masks and breathing all over others ...

We both had colds before Christmas starting with sore throats ,sneezing and runny nose .I was not so bad as my Son ,LFT all negative .

I have heard of a lot of people getting COVID twice within a few weeks and even one 3 times

The medics who stand round Boris when he is telling us to have jabs keep saying that on TV. I am not sure what to believe any more. All the statistics seem to vary depending where you read them.

I believe the medics and scientists - not BoJo's interpretation! Because he can't even agree with himself!

He’s not alone in that then is he, don’t think anyone believes him anymore.😳….although some of us never did.

Common colds are often caused by coronaviruses, among other bugs, like rhinovirus. Could be covid is mutating into another common cold. In terms of its own survival it would be its best strategy, and an annoyance but not a deadly disease for us.

I had that rash after my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. GP treated me with antihistamines for 10 days. Its one of the side effects if you look them up.
