Zoloft alternative??? Chronic prostatitis and pelvic floor pain caused by SSRIs.

Hello. I’ve had such a horrible experience with Zoloft for years and never saw it coming. Intense pelvic pain, penile burning, cramps, tightness, all more intense after ejaculation. I’ve been to a dozen doctors, two surgeons, injections, eastern medicines, etc. NOT ONE doctor ever thought for a second that 100mg of Zoloft could be the issue. I decided to go on a small cleanse last week and within 48 hours my pain subsided by 80 percent. It’s upsetting but happy I found the issue. Side effects are clearly listed about SSRIs. But always the rare ones the doctors never imagine happening to anyone. Rare still means thousands of people can experience these. Crazy. I had a horrible experience going cold turkey on Zoloft. Suicidal thoughts and all. Then doctors still say that shouldn’t be the case, but you read so many cases about people committing suicide after going off their meds. Anyways, I am now trying Lexapro. Just started today. I am praying I don’t have any issues with it. Any advice on other meds??? Would be horrible to not be able to take an SSRI because I still mentally need them forever🥹

I think your symptoms may well be caused by SSRSs. What makes you think you can't cope without them?

I don't want to scare you but it's possible to get serious withdrawal symptoms of SSRSs. I myself withdraw of quetiapine for 2 1/2 years with bearable symptoms because I did the withdrawal slowly as it is supposed to be done.

However, right at the end of the withdrawal I got horrible pelvic pain. I didn't combine the pain to my withdrawal but now that you mention it, I began to think about the connection a new.

There are thousands of people suffering of withdrawal symptoms from psychiatric drugs, and most doctors don't know anything of them or simply deny they exist. Also some people suffer of withdrawal and at the same time symptoms of starting a new drug, that of course makes the change in medication even worse.

I would like to advice you to seek proper medical care for your pelvic pain asap so that the pain doesn't get chronic. It will be even harder to treat the pain if it is let become chronic.

What you can also do to possibly get immediate pain relief is to see a qualified pelvic floor physiotherapist. A qualified PFPT can possibly make a faster diagnose and relieve the pain while you seek medical help. You will certainly need pain killers to start with.

With my quetiapine withdrawal I was taken out of the frying pan into the fire. I got rid of quetiapine but became a victim of pain killers, three years now.

Seek help 1. PFPT, painkillers - and see if doctors can find the reason for the pelvic pain. Be warned. Unless you find the best specialist, it can be a long road. General practitioners usually don't know anything about these things. Maybe you could start with urologist, but try to find a doctor who announces pelvic floor disorders as his or her field of experience.

I'm so sorry for what SSRS has done to you and your pain. I know what it is.

Thanks. Bodies work different person person. I started on lexapro and lessen withdraw symptoms. My pain has subsided a bit and praying it continues to progress. I think most are prescribed an SSRI for pelvic pain if they innately have it. I really just need a new doctor who understands. But I’ve been through so many. They’re not Jesus, they just go based on the books mostly which doesn’t always provide individual care.

Lexapro is similar to Zoloft . I like Cymbalta which is a SNRI and has shown help with nerve pain .
