Pain during bowel movements?

Is this common with pelvic floor dysfunction? I feel bowel cramping before a bowel movement and slight lower abdominal pain while pushing and and I feel better until the next wave hits. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Hi, My pain with BMs is caused by hypertonic (tight) pelvic muscles and possible pudendal neuralgia. After many many years of pelvic PT, body-mind techniques, etc., my current pelvic PT believes that the rectal branch of the pudendal nerve is "entrapped" or irritated during a BM because of the muscle hypertonicity. I am getting a nerve block in September.
