Pudendal pain

Hi fellow members

What can I to reduce burning pain in rectum and to area between anus and private parts.

I am a male of 60 years old and take various nerve medications including antidepressant medication and diazepam but nothing seem to be working and really feel like ending it at all as this is not a life.

I also suffer from trigeminal neuralgia and take very high dose of Gabapentin Carbamazepine and pregabalin but this has affect on pudendal neuralgia pain.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you

What works for me is seeing my specialist physio who does trigger point therapy around the areas you mention, the pubirectalis muscle, in conjunction with botox injections, again in the same areas. It doesn't eradicate pain but does make the pain less intense.

Hope you find a treatment that works for you, and wish you good health.

Hi Benhur1 Yes please could you pass on the details of the PT i went to one in the midlands just before lockdown however I am not sure about the benefits to me. Honestly I would not want to put you of from trying everything but University College London Hospital proved to be a big disappointment, I waited 8 months for an appointment and was full of hope but sadly they have nothing to offer other than a course on how to live with pain, I attended this with other men suffering the same condition, all had the same story, all had desperately searched for a solution but had not found one, they came from all over the UK in expectation thinking that they were consulting with experts only to be disappointed.

I read similar stories about UCL before I thought and they themselves as the best in treating PN patients. This PT in London I heard is good as he was PN suffer himself, I get his number and get it over to you.

In the meantime my number is 07891 801626, please don't hesitate to call me

Have your prostate checked out because it might be infected or otherwise inflamed (there is treatment for both); Prostatitis can result in referred pain which may make it appear in other areas.

Benhur, I'm male, 52, and have been dealing with pudendal pain for about 8 years. It has gotten bad, particularly the penile pain. However, I have been on Amitriptyline for about one and 1/2 years, and it has helped me considerably. If you take it, make sure you take it for a while (weeks) before you give up on it - it took about 3 weeks for my body to respond, and it really has helped. Also, it is non-addictive and you don't have to increase dosage over time - it can be taken indefinitely.

Thank you Chase goodDid you dry mouth taking Amitriptyline and were you any other medication to contain the burning pain while waiting for Amitriptyline to kick in.

Benhur, yes, I have had bad drymouth! I am a pastor, so occasionally I preach and I teach a lot and it is a real struggle with my mouth getting completely dry. But, it is well worth it, as my pain down there is otherwise very bad. I haven't found another medication that is able to address the burning pain at all. I tried hydrocodone and some other opiods, but they didn't seem to help with nerve pain. One other side effect that I'm thinking is from the Amitriptyline is I have had significant memory problems. That could be aging, but I'm 52 and don't think it would be hitting me this hard and fast.

I’m a female and I apply ice pain patches or I sit on ice packs if the pain is anguish.

How long you been suffering from this there has been to be something ie supplements or medicines to cure this burning pain.

I had decompression surgery. A section of my right pudendal nerve and right inferior rectal nerve were stuck onto fascia and ligaments in my ischial spine. Once the surgery was done, the burning pain was gone.

My surgery was done 3.5 years too late as doctors where I lived would only offer useless and ineffective medication management. I was gas lighted from day one.

I apply ice pain patches when I drive and sit on a donut sit pad.

I’ve dealt with pain on sitting and lying down for 13 years. I use magnesium, Turmeric, Boswellia, Passionflower, Nortriptyline and pain patches. I pace myself. Some days all I do is rest.

We're all the issues picked in the MRI during your diagnostic

MRI was useless. Surgery proved how bad my compression injury was.

My daughter suffered 24 hrs. day with rectal pain. Saw many Drs., PT's did all the invasive processes and nothing helped. Then she had such bad pain she went to ER. After five days in the hospital with only IV's, no food she went home pain free. She was very low on Potassium and her she had pancreatitis. We still don't understand that. Home two months now and still no rectal pain. She has to be careful with eating. This is just an update on a post she posted 3 months ago. After watching what she goes through I feel all of your pain.
