Pudendal Nerve and infection

Complicatedyounggirl profile image

Dear All,

I am a female and 35 years old.

I suffer in pain since 15 months, i am sure i have pudendal nerve problem. It was started last year after an intercourse, and after an urulogical catheter swab and infection in bladder and pelvis. I am in pain since then, i have shooting pain in my pelvic everywhere, bladder pain and frequency, urethrea pain and burning in urethra and vagina. I have also pins and needles in my legs, shooting pain in my upper left leg. I have also ball sensation in my rectum, and also burning all the time.

No pain meds are helping . I am really desperate. Can somebody relate and comment?

Thank you so much

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are suffering with this. Have you had a pelvic floor assessment by a physical therapist? It does sound like it could be nerve related but there is also a thing called pelvic congestion syndrome which has similar symptoms. There is a doctor who specialises in this in the UK. Look up the Whitely Clinic on Google. Don't give up hope. You will find an answer to your problems. Unfortunately it's a complex area and takes time. Best of luck. I wish you well.

Your nervous system is agitated because of long term pain. Can you try passionflower tablets to calm it down?

Can you sit pain free? Can you urinate pain free?

Why did you have a urologic catheter swab done? What was the cause of your bladder and pelvis infection? Did they isolate a bacterium? Were you given antibiotics?

Have you been seen in a pain clinic ? You may need nerve blocks if they think it’s the pudendal nerve.

Seeing a physiotherapist is a good first step.

One question? Have you had any metal put in your body during another surgery? Metal mesh or clips can migrate in the pelvis and cause pain and neuropathy,

Hi Konagirl,

You have really good question. First they have not detected any bacteria through vagina however i was given strong abx. I regret the date when they made the catheter swab, it was really not necessary, first they did not detect any bacteria but i got ill with my bladder after the procedure. After again new swab and they found e coli esbl and strep agalactiae. I was not treated and they made the cistoscopy which was also not necessary and even got worse. I am in pain 7/24 since then, got bladder instills which was also not a good idea for an inflammed bladder. I got long term abx now and i had now PID too, so i took a lot of abx. My pain in bladder is off the charts and also my vagina burns. And next to this in my legs constant pins and needles... here we don’ t have any pain clinic :( i can sit pain free, and urinate pain free, however the bladder pressure and also whenever starts to fill in the pain is not bearable. Is passion fruit tablet good for nervous system? Thank you

I think you should contact a lawyer. You’ve been neglected. You should have been given antibiotics when they found E. coli in your urine. Do you have a permanent catheter in your urethra?

I’d try to heal your body and urinary system. Drink plenty fluids like herbal teas, drink a half cup kefir every day, eat plain yogurt drizzled with honey and eat an anti inflammatory diet.

Avoid dairy products. Use oat milk instead. Try to avoid unhealthy white flour products like donuts, cakes and cookies. Make your own banana bread with whole grain flour or coconut flour. Eat five servings of fresh fruit and plenty green veggies like lettuce, zucchini, book chop, kale, spinach.

Passionflower is a natural relaxant. It’s a nervine. It calms anxiety amd soothes the nervous system.

Are you on any medicines for pain like Ibuprofen?

I wish I could give you some good news. I just went through a series of 14 nerve blocks. One a week for 14 weeks. Also I've had numerous epidurals and piraformis injections. It mading. I feel hopeless at this point. This week my Pelvic floor therapist went in Friday and stretched my anal muscles and my vaginal muscles and I ended up at the hospital last night and was diagnosed with cellulitis. Dr. Said this infection could turn in to a more series event if I dont stay on top of it. Seems like a no win for me. So frustrated and and disappointed.
