ilioinguinal nerve block has made my pain worse

Hi, I had a ultrasound guided pulse radio-frequency ilioinguinal nerve block 4 weeks ago, and so far it has made my pain worse, is this normal?

Hi We5t,

I’m sorry to hear that your having a hard time after your procedure. I haven’t had this done myself so can’t really advise but quite often after treatment or surgery pain can escalate before improving. Improvement is usually slow and progress can be a case of two steps forward three steps back. Have you taken any pain relief? Very often it’s important to keep up with this rather than waiting for the pain to return before taking pain medications. Have you been given a phone number to ring from the hospital treating you? It might be worth giving them a call to let them know your concerns about your pain. I hope this helps

Thank you for your reply Alaine1. I'm really not a fan of medication, I've taken all the very strong meds over the years only to be left with awful side effects, so now I just try to deal with it etc, which isn't easy. I called the doctor to let him know, but I could get passed his Secretary, she really isn't nice at all. I was told he will see me in January, I'm hoping this pain will be done by then, but I'm really worried that the nerve block has damaged the nerve in someway, the pain is so much worse since I had it done.
