I’ve found a lump inside my vagina, can’t see a doctor because of COVID-19 HELP

I’m a 20 year old and discovered a flat lump in my vagina about 2 months ago, it’s about 2 inches deep into the Vaginal wall which is why I can’t see it, it’s on the ceiling of the wall (central left). I’ve never felt it there before, it’s become a bit larger recently and I have no other symptoms. The lump feels about an inch or two in diameter. Does anyone know what this could be?

I’ve heard about genital prolapses, I’ve had constipation on and off, really worried. I’ve also thought it could be a cyst but it’s been there for over 2 months now.

I would contact your own doctor and explain things. They should see you and check it out for you, I would certainly have it checked. Don’t just leave it because of the virus, they will keep you safe I’m sure.

GPs are still seeing patients, most surgeries are running a triage phone consultation system prior to booking appts if needed.

Get in touch with your GP or the gynae dept at your local hospital. They should help you even if only with a telephone appointment, but that might be enough to put your mind at rest - I'm afraid the reaction rather depends on where you are in the country, but I moved to Cornwall 15 months ago and have found the services here much more proactive and caring than where I was before.

I was just seen today because I have a very aggressive pre-cancer vulvar. She told me everything was healing well. Back to you! There is a gland right where your talking about. It could be clogged up and or infected. Bartholin glands is what its called. You can look it up. You should be seen asap. Hope you feel better! Keep us posted!

Hi Wendy, I found a lump in my vagina after i had been seriously constipated for about 3 months. My GP diagnosed a retrocele which is a prolapse of the bowel. I would doubt it was what you have. However, even though we are self isolating I was seen by a female GP as a matter of urgency and she referred unnder the 6 week cancer window for a pelvic scan (internal) and a scan of my abdomen whi has been booked for next wee. The internal scan was done on Monday 20th April. Covoid 19 is certainly something to avoid and to isolate as much as possible but GP's and hospitals still have the duty of care to have gynae problems seen to asap. Have a telephone conversation with your GP and I'm fairly certain that you will be seen and freferred as necessary. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. Please keep us updated. Stay safe xx

I think the replies you have already got are good, but during this time GPs vary considerably. Mine for example is doing phone consultations but they are not seeing anyone, you can’t even pick up a prescription.

Because of this and in fact generally it might be an idea to try a sexual health clinic (whether you believe the lump could be sti related or not) if there are any good ones in your area. I had a problem in my vulva area some months ago. Even though I knew it wasn’t anything to do with an sti I got an appointment at a good clinic ( not many left due to lack of funding) and apologised for taking up their time when I didn’t need sti testing. They said it was fine and that they see anything do to with ‘down there’. The doctor I saw got a colleague to have a look and they got me a referral to a specialist vulva clinic straight away which is checking me out for a dermatological condition. I have read that it can take many GP visits to get a referral for this.

Just had a quick google of sexual health clinics and it seems like they are still operating during the ‘lockdown’. It might be a good time to get seen if you can travel to one safely.

Not sure if it is ok to recommend a specific place to go on this forum but if you live in the London area, let me know and I could recommend the place I went to.

I too found a lump, it was a vaginal prolapse. I was operated on and had a mesh, like a hammock, inserted more than 10 yrs ago. This sorted my problem out for me. I too was constipated and think this was the cause of my prolapse. Good luck. And l hope this helps.

Hi, I too found a lump, it was a prolapse and was fixed by having a vaginal mesh inserted. You hear bad things about them but I have been fine. See the Dr when u can. Take care. X
