Ovarian Cyst Or...?

Hi everyone,

About December last year I began bleeding a few days after my period finished. It was just spotting to begin with then it became heavier and heavier and was huge amounts of clotting. This lastest almost a month accompanied by sharp pains in my lower right abdomen. I also had pain during sex for a long time before this started. Then my doctor finally agreed to a examination and I got ultovan which helped and then an examination. She said she felt nothing. Then when I finished my course of ultovan I bled again for a week, then stopped and didn’t have my period for ages until now. For the past three weeks I have been experiencing a horrible burning pain in my lower abdomen along with the sharp pain in the lower right. I’ve also had weight gain. I went back to my doctor to discuss this and other problems I have and he seemed concerned so I am being sent for an ultrasound, what do my symptoms seem they could be? A cyst or something else? Would love an indication before I go for tests.

•I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and PoTs and I am being tested for thyroid and liver problems

Hi alice .The symptoms your describing do sound lime ann ovarian cyst I have one also and have done on and off for 3byears now ! Mine started with severe lain on my right side of my stomoch but i also had severe pain in my left shoulder too . I went to my gp and he sent me for an ultrasound which then discovered mg ovarian cyst which at thevtime was 5cm .They left it for a while to see if itcwould go but it sid t so theyboffered me an ultrasound guided drain which is basically where they use the ultrasound to guide them then drain through a syringe fairly pain free. Iv had this done twice now . But again the cyst has come back and is 18 cm by 11cm so im finally on the waiting list for surgery with about 4 weeeks to go !. They said they should be able to do it keyhole but cannot guarantee . I just want this done now as im in quite alot of pain . So my advice to you go back to your gp and ask for an ultrasound to rule out if you have an ovarian cyst. If you have any questions lease ask and good luck thanks kerry

It doesn't sound like a simple cyst as they wouldn't normally cause bleeding. I had a rugby ball sized cyst many years ago but absolutely no symptoms, I've had many others over the years but again no symptoms, the one I currently have has been there for over ten years.

Your problem may be fibroids as they will cause bleeding. Hope you get it sorted.
