Has anybody experienced any relief from daily stretching and massaging the abdomen in order to break up internal scar tissue? If so how long did it take?

I went to a women's health physical therapist. She would work to release my scar tissue/adhesion problem from multiple surgeries. I felt more comfortable with her doing this because I didn't want to be too rough on myself, causing more problems. And, she had the advantage of standing over me to find them all. It took me a while to find the right PT, she was my third try! The first one was too aggressive and I hurt for DAYS afterwards. A TENS unit also works really well for scar tissue pain!

As mentioned, keep looking for the right provider who is willing to work very slowly and coach you on what to do at home. TENS unit too close to certain areas hurts my pelvic and other injury nerve pain, but does help sore and tense muscles. You would have to test it out. My gyn surgeon cautioned me about too much therapy to loosen adhesions, can increase pain or even disrupt repair work. No easy answers (:

You are so right about the TENS unit. My PT showed me exactly where to place the pads,,, I should have mentioned that. Your right, a TENS can do damage as well! What I liked about your post is that you mentioned the PT showing you what to do at home. I now no longer go to my PT, because she taught me how to massage the trigger points, massage my scars, and relieve pain with my TENS. Performing it on yourself helps so much because you can determine how much pain you are in and how much work to do! I have very tight pelvic muscle, so I use a set of dialators as well to slowly stretich the muscles.

The main area we worked on adhesions is where I felt my colon was "stuck" to the scar. I ended up with a complete bowel obstruction in 1995 due to scar tissue acting as a "rubber band" around the colon. (The doctor told me I had IBS and was depressed).

I have been seeing a pt to avoid having nerves cut in the illiolingual area of my abdomin. I am trying a more conservative approach to having them cut and coderized.

The nerve have been offending my vaginal area when I stand. The pt has been aggressive and it feels like there is some progression.
