hi all, her history is-2009 had missed appendicitis then peritonitis, 2010 removal of appendix (looked normal, no damage) and has had constant pain from day one to now of different levels of pain. she has never been given pain relief except paracetamol & ibru as she is under age (but is 6ft) and has never had laposcotomy although most doctors say she prob has adhesions. we do not have a diagnosis. I can't work due to her pains and time off school but without diagnosis we cant claim any help financially.she has been told the pain is in her head several times and has been forwarded to councillors and now on waiting list for more councillors!? ive kicked and screamed for somebody to except that she has adhesions and give us a diagnosis but we don't get anywhere. we go to a&e day and night and doctors weekly but are sent home with no help. all the doctors seem to say different things, one will say possible partial blockage in bowel another will say she'll never get a blockage.im so frustrated and don't know where to turn x

hi, we're near Plymouth in uk. we have asked for her to see somebody at the pain clinic, but they just say she is to young and won't forward her. shes doing her gsces right now and the school want her to take pain relief as well to try and keep her in school as much as possible but whoever I seem to speak to (doctors) seem to just want her to see councillors and shes on the waiting list to see a psychologist.

Angela,it sounds like life has stopped with you too! I had a top surgeon tell me to see a pschyiatrist ! My pain is almost 8 yrs now.ive had success on some procedures but now going to Minneapolis,MN for surgery. All I can say is you must find a pelvic specialist someway! Watch your child's state of mind.My nightmare had me very close more than once, how could I live!

Hi Angela I can really Emphasise with you and your daughter, my daughter has just turned 16 in Sept and had her first cyst in 2008 and problems like yourselves to and from different consultants, Gps passed from Gynae to Gastro paedatrition and recommended to see a phsycologist since no one able to diagnose her problem although she has had two cysts removed before her more recent laparoscopy in July to remove another cyst to be told she has endometriosis with possible PCOS she also had adhesions removed that were attached to her bowel. She is still suffering chronic daily pain with the only advice to have Depo Injections which we are really not sure about. We have had very little support from the school and she had nearly 2 years off leading up to July before we got her diagnosis and finally got home tuition organised which started in Sept 13. I too have not been able to work and totally understand the stress you must be under. I can only suggest you keep on pushing to see a specialist. I too had to keep on pushing for help although hardly anyone believed us(family included)since I know my own daughter and new she was in and still is constant pain. Our battle has not ended by any means although we at least have a diagnosis that is just the start of it we need to find a way to manage her pain. I know different hospitals have different policies but I do not understand your daughter can not be seen by a pain specialist my daughter has, although the clinic we went to were not a lot of help with no real understanding of her condition. I,m just in the process of getting her referred to another hospital. All I can suggest is you try to stay strong and positive and keep on fighting I know its hard Kind Regards Janice x

A long shot.......but you never know? I've used it before to get attention at a high level having been fobbed off by rules.

Try complaining to your MP and get him or her to petition the Health Minister on your behalf. It seems very unkind that a teenager can't get medical support.

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear of your story, however, I think I can relate. I am currently 16 and 2 years ago had appendicitis and then peritonitis. After my operation I had internal bleeding due to a mishap in surgery and 6 days post surgery I collapsed due to the bleed and stayed in hospital for a furtherw month. Since 2012 I have had chronic pain in my abdomen. At the end of 2012 I was sent to hospital with chronic pain to have an ultrasound, they believed that my ovary had fluid inside of it and I was sent to surgery to have a laperotamy as they believed they would be removing my fallopian tube and ovary, however once inside they found hundreds of adhesions and that there was no fluid in my ovary but just surrounding it... They continued to put 'organ normality' and remove the adhesions. However 3 months later the pain returned, I have since seen a specialist and had a further operation to again relieve the adhesions, for a few months I was a different person, however since, the pain has returned, I also have endometriosis and struggle with pain like that, however since I have had 2 operations and they have had no long term affect I can understand why your surgeons would not want to operate as adhesions can cure themselves and by operating it could make them worse.. I hope you are all coping as I know how difficult it is for family too :( xxx
