Hi
I am 56 and been off work since January with complications with PCD. One has been extreme vertigo and blocked Eustachian tubes. In May, a local ENT surgeon insisted on inserting grommets despite my fears of PCD and the UK website not recommending them. I also asked about the balloon method, but it was something she does not do. I now still blocked tubes with moderate and mild hearing loss in either ear. I am on my third round of antibiotic drops. She then wants me to use olive oil and see her in three months.
In the meantime I am seeing a second ENT specialist in Vancouver due to a mass in my sinus near my optic nerve that needs to surgery to have it removed. The Ent specialist above did say to discuss alternatives with this new specialist in regards to the blocked Eustachian tubes. She also added there may be no solution.
So my questions are- is there a solution to blocked Eustachian tubes and sinus issues? Or is this now another piece to PCD that needs to be managed as I continue to age?
Any personal experiences gratefully received- it is hard to feel a little isolated in Canada. (I am from the UK). On a positive note ST. Paul's in Vancouver is looking into becoming a PCD centre which would be fantastic in the future.
Thanks for reading
