Dont know for sure. I suffer from joint and muscular pain and my gp thought it may be because my liver was not filtering the toxins properly, but that was just a theory and not
to quote him. (oops).
I think this is one of the mysteries of PBC and Im afraid there doesnt seem to anyone out there who can help unless you develop a more formal autoimmune arthritis. My theory is that we have our own type of arthritis specific to PBC and there is no test for it!
Joint and muscle pain is my main symptom,i am in constant pain and have been for yrs.I find the pains have got worse since being on urso.I dont know if any one else has this but i have constant pain in my left shoulder and it is very sore under the arm pit.I awas told by the doctor that the pain we get with pbc is called secondry pain,i think the liver is very complex just like pbc .
I have the pain all over and my muscles sometimes spasm also. I had the pain under my arm and the doctor thought it was coming from my breast because it felt swollen. Sent me to the breast clinic but after scans they could not see anything. Doctor then gave me more painkillers which is rediculous because I already rattle with the amount of medication I take. But when they have no answer to what is going on they give more medication. One doctor even suggested I was faking it which is really unhelpful. It is so frustrating. He would have been better saying he just didnt know. Meanwhile I continue to be in pain.
Hi there, I have an occasional flare up of joint pain in my wrists and to a lesser extent in my knees and ankles. It comes for a couple of days then goes. I used to have it a lit more when I ate more carbohydrates. since reducing crisps, cakes and biscuits and eating less bread I dont suffer as much. Dont know if that is the reason or something else. I also go for a walk every day as that is suppossed to be good.
I have pain in almost every joint but this morning I woke with the most excruciating pain in my left shoulder it was almost unbearable, It was that bad I took 2 ibuprofen and for me thats a lot as I don't like taking tablets and most of the time just suffer. I did go to the pain clinic this week and they were not much help, the doctor there wants me to go on opiates and the woman with him kept pulling her face at him when he wasn't looking and saying I think you should join our 8 week course and we have a psychologist you could see!!! now I do not need a dam psycologist to tell me I have PBC and am in pain., The pair of them seemed to be in compitition with each other on who's treatment should work best. The lady said they would teach me how to live with the pain............I am already living with it!!!
Sorry for my rant but am really anoyed with them.
You should go for natural medications for this. I am not sure , why this happens with you. You should consult the same with your physician first.
