Some more details could be useful please. Joint pains you mean, or right side/liver area pain, or..? The PBC Foundation Compendium has some advice and explanations about that too.

Right side/liver area and across my shoulders, I had a scan last week which showed a small blood blister type thing on my liver, and my left kidney is not working at 100%. But I don't get to see my liver consultant until 24th of this month.

Hello singsing.

Apparently one with PBC isn't supposed to take aspirin for one (unless on medical advice) and pain killers like Ibuprofen or similiar.

As far as I have read/heard paracetamol (it is called under a diff name in the States, forgets now what) is the norm but you'd have to ask for medical advice for anything else. I know paracetamol is recommended for patients who have undergone a liver biopsy if they feel the need for pain relief following one.

I too have a bit of right shoulder pain which a few yrs ago I thought was arthritis or I'd done something in work as at the time I was a manual worker. Mine isn't overly-bad but some days I do know I have it and moreso when I am in bed and may end up sleeping on that particular right side. I try not to lift heavier items with my right hand tho' a bit difficult as I am right-handed.

Just looking on here at the side of 'Recent popular questions' you might be interested to read mandyc's 5th Sept question, she mentions shoulder pain and painkillers she takes every day so that might be some pointer for you?

I have pain off and on where my liver is too. My doctor said that is normal. I do not take anything that metabolizes through the liver unless my doctor prescribes, i.e. after a surgery etc. Sometimes massaging the area, except the liver area, helps. Or just sitting down and resting for a few. Since you might have a kidney issue, I would definitely wait until there is more information so you don't damage your kidneys either.
