CAN INFLAMMATION BE FELT?

I've had a warm sensation in my chest for a few months, it comes and goes. It's not uncomfortable just slightly annoying and keeps me wondering if I'm feeling inflammation in my bile ducts or liver. Could this be possible? I'm trying not to blame PBC for everything but, can't help myself!

Not sure if this is what you mean but I have discomfort just under my right breast which comes and goes. According to my consultant, I should not have any pain with PBC. However, several people on this site have the same discomfort/pain. We can't all be imagining it! I woud describe mine like it feels like my liver is inflammed and pushing against my rib cage. As far as I know the liver does not have any nerves but the sack which surrounds it does. So my logic is that if the liver is inflammed it must be pressing against the sack and that is what is giving us the sensation.

In the leaflet produced by the PBC Foundation it lists "Abdominal Pain" as one of the common symptoms of PBC. Go figure! Take care. x

Jtxx,

Once I felt that my liver was having a spasm. Just a dull, throbbing, painful sensation that the folks in ER said was heartburn. Heartburn! No way but I said nothing as I didn't know I had PBC.

Thanks!

I get a pain just under my right breast some times as well but I have always described it as feeling like something is getting trapped between my ribs or that there is something there that goes into spasm, It happens mainly when I bend to my right side, like to cut mt toenails on my right foot or something, the consultant said there is nothing in that area to do this after staring blankly in to space for a bit, well it's not in my imagination I can tell you, It hurts.

sometimes I get an ache that feels like someone has either punched me or kicked me under my rib cage it is not pain just an ache. I usually flush myself with water and herebal teas and it seems to help

I have an ache under my right breast as well, and it extends up in to my right shoulder...I am new to PBC and AIH, but I agree that it is not my imagination as it darn well hurts. Like lovemyliver, I am trying not to blame everything on PBC and AIH, but with these two and hasimotos I am in the opinion that anything goes. And besides, Cnsultants and Gps arent the ones living with these conditions so how do they know whats the norm .

xx conniefused.

I have the same thing but mine is more on the left side or both. To cope I have to push down on my side just under my breast. It seems to come more after eating along with the bloat.

I feel a pressure on my right side under my rib cage, it is more like the bloated feeling like you get after you've eaten a very large meal. Some days are worse than others and I haven't yet figured out what causes it to flare up.

I get the pain just off centre on the right side under my rib cage, have sometime during the day, but it seems more prevelant of a night, especially when I lie on my right side, some nights are worse than others, it is really uncomfortable.

When I was diagnosed recently, the first thing the Doctor asked me was, "Do you have any pain on the right side? He actually seemed to think I should! Also, abdominal pain is absolutely listed as a major symptom. I really think that most doctors don't know a lot about this disease - it's pretty uncommon. This is a GI gdoctor who knows a little more.
