I have been glucose intolerant for the past few years but am not actually classed as diabetic though. Just tested once a year to make sure I am still ok.

Hi Zipitydoo

Before I was diagnosed with PBC, several years ago I was diagnosed with Diabetes because of my reaction to a glucose intolerance test.. So I had the regulation six monthly meetings with the diabetes nurse at my doctor's surgery and the yearly cholesterol blood test, etc.

I never showed any other symptoms of diabetes, I never managed the condition, I never changed my diet, I never went on special medication and my blood sugars stayed within the correct limit. Now my surgery sees my inability to deal effectively with glucose something to do with my PBC and no longer see sees me as someone with diabetes..

Hi yes I have type 2 diabetes. I was on medication but since losing 2 stone I am able to control with diet. The diet for diabetes is about the same as that for PBC so no big changes. I had PBC first.

I have never been informed what the right diet for PBC would be. My GP says that now I have been referred to the hospital I must speak to them about this and the hospital say "Just carry on as normal" which is no help whatsoever. I would like to have a diet that gives my liver the best chance. What that might be I still don't know.

My sister has Type 1 Diabetes and has had since she was 19. 55 now but was diagnosed with PBC about 3yrs ago. I was diagnosed in the July and she was diagnosed November of the same year. I now have Asthma, Arthritis, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Hiatus Hernia, Insomnia, Migraine, PBC, Raynauds, Reflux, Sciatica, Scleroderma, Sjogren's Syndrome, Telangiectasias - think that's all. Didn't take them all at once, of course. Started with Raynauds about 25yrs ago. I had problems with my pancreas around Christmas time but I have to see one of my Consultants on Thursday so hoping she'll have some answers for me. My GP gets me to go to the Surgery the week before my appointments and he does the blood tests, I collect the results and take them to the hospital with me. I think its very efficient cos then they can see at a glance what's going on. Not sure how useful any of this is, its

just were I'm at @ the moment and if any of it helps then that's a wee bonus. Cheers. (:-).
